AI Summary
This e-portfolio presents a student's reflection on various business challenges encountered during their coursework. It begins with an introduction to e-portfolios and their role in demonstrating learning and promoting reflective practices. The core of the document comprises analyses of four distinct challenges: a T-shirt design project, a hotel management simulation, a presentation challenge, and a debate. Each challenge analysis includes an introduction, a discussion of the challenges faced, the skills developed (such as communication, teamwork, and business analysis), and a conclusion summarizing the key takeaways. The T-shirt challenge focuses on market identification and financial modeling; the hotel challenge involves maximizing profits through strategic decision-making; the presentation challenge highlights public speaking and market research; and the debate challenge emphasizes critical thinking and argumentation. The portfolio concludes with a comprehensive action plan for skill development, and a list of references used throughout the document.

PRESENTATION CHALLENGE
Introduction
The third challenge was presentation challenge in which I gave a 10 minute presentation
in the classroom in front of teachers and other students. The challenge was performed in group of
4 students.
Challenge analysis
In the presentation challenge I demonstrated a 10 min presentation on Tesco in front of
teacher in the class. The challenge includes four students and I was also one of the member of
the group. For completing the challenge at first we divided our entire work in different parts such
as conducting marketing research regarding recent trends in supermarket or retail industry,
preparing power point presentation and then giving an oral presentation in front of class. The
challenge involves several difficult aspects. For instance at first since it was team based task we
were required to work in collaboration so that task can be completed on time. The presentation
was based upon current performance trends of Tesco. Thus apart from the delivery of
presentation challenge involved different tasks such as preparation of academic business

presentation, speech delivery and accurate market research so that relevant and accurate facts can
be presented in the challenge.
Skills demonstrated
The challenge gave me a great opportunity to improve my skills. The first skills which
was required for the completion of challenge was team work (Bresnen, 2017). Since we were
four in group initially it was tough to have collaboration or agreement on topic selection, role
and responsibility of each team member, communication and management of team conflicts.
While addressing the challenge apart from the team work I also got a valuable chance to gain
understanding of public speaking (Chen, Gregor and Winter, 2017). At the time of presentation I
was very nervous and afraid that if I will be able to properly reflect my knowledge or not.
However I tried to use very simple language so that I can remain confident at the time of
presentation.
While conducting market research there were instances when I had arguments with other
team members because we all had different level of creativity and opinions. However for
delivery of successful team work I tried to collaborate with each team member equally. Apart
from the professional interaction I also tried to socialise with other members of group so that I
can accept their feedback in positive way. Initially I used to feel bad when other team members
pointed at my mistake however gradually when I became comfortable I learned that feedback is
valuable as it is helping me to build strong relations with them as well as to learn from my
mistakes (Kandachar and Halme, 2017). With this challenge I also learned skills such as time
management and business analysis because I was required to complete presentation in a very
short duration of time and various market research elements such as SWOT analysis of Tesco
and financial analysis was also included in the challenge.
Conclusion
From presentation challenge it can be concluded that this type of challenges are vital for
encouraging the development of multiple skills such as communication, confidence, team work
as well as business competencies.

DEBATE CHALLENGE
Introduction
The last challenge in which I participated was debate challenge. My entire class was
divided into two groups and each group was required to conduct a debate on particular topic.
Challenge analysis
In the debate challenge my entire class was divided intro two groups for a debate. The
topic chosen for the debate was: “Is corporate social responsibility increasingly becoming more
of a marketing tool? Yes or no”. I was included in the group which was supporting CSR as
marketing tool. For making my claims effective I also gave suitable examples from the leading
organisations such as Coca Cola. One of my example such as contribution of a portion of price of
Coca cola bottle in India for charity in increasing the brand awareness and popularity of the
brand in the region. The other team members as well as students from the opposing teams also
presented several examples that apart from the marketing tools there are legal obligations as well
which forces organisation to consider CSR as more than marketing tool.
Skills demonstrated
The first skill which I learned from debate challenge was communication. Initially I was
afraid that since group size is huge will I get chance to speak and present my views comfortably.
However as the debate initiated I went with the flow. One of the important thing which I learned
from this challenge is that earlier I used to think that effectiveness of communication skill mainly
depends upon speaking skills (Aragon-Correa and et.al., 2017). However when I participated in
this challenge I learned that communication is not possible without attentive listening. During
debate I was highly focused and listening to the arguments of other members so that I can
counter attack with suitable argument.
From the challenge I also learned that CSR also has strong impact on various
organisational dimension. For instance it affect the branding, operational cost as well as
marketing function of the company (Snyder, 2017). The organisations such as Coca Cola which
rules entire world are also adopting CSR strategies to encourage their contribution in society. At
some points I was not agreed with the arguments presented by opposing team. However instead
6
Document Page
of showing aggression I was supposed to keep patience and was required to wait for my turn.
Thus I also learned that for effective communication diversity and perspective of other people
must also be respected and accepted (Sivarajah and et.al., 2017) .
Conclusion
It can be concluded from the debate challenge that for public speaking and debate type
challenges apart from the personal capabilities and skills individuals also required to have
excellent command over team work skills and business research aspects.
