Equal employment opportunity refers to an employment practice where the employers
restrain from engaging in various employment activities otherwise prohibited by law. It is
illegal on the part of the employers to discriminate on basis of the factors given below:

Age
Sex
National origin
Other than this there are companies that take a step ahead to hire people who are
underrepresented in workforce on the basis of the above mentioned factors. It is the right of
all employees to get equal opportunity when it comes to work (Benokraitis 2019). There are
many laws related to the employment that try to keep a balance in the workforce. In different
countries the laws are different and every organization should comply with these laws so that
no discrimination is made on the basis of the above mentioned factors. The hiring of
employees should be totally dependent on their talent and qualification rather than on
arbitrary factors. It can be said that when people from different backgrounds are hired, the
company can make use of different talents along with fresh perspectives that in turn will help
in enhancing creativity. Diversity in the workforce will help improve an organization’s ability
to cater to the needs of diverse population. Everyone has the right to equal opportunity and
discriminating on the basis of character traits or religion illegal and irrational. All should be
given chances to prove their talent and make use of their qualification irrespective of their

physical character traits and religion or other such things. There are instances where the
employees discriminate in between their fellow colleagues and in many case this is a reason
why some employees leave work as they find the work culture to be working against them.
There are various advantages of hiring employees from diverse background and the
companies should use the experience of employees from different background to support
them in their growth (Bisom-Rapp 2018). Equal employment practices are important for the
individuals as well as the organizations. There exists codes of behaviour for individuals
within the organizational premises and employees are expected to work according to these
codes so that the culture of the organization is not affected by their behaviour. In many
organizations the work culture is such that it discriminated in between the employees on the
basis of their physical character trait and especially religion. The organizations should
evaluate their employment practices as per certain guidelines and ensure that nobody in their
organization is practicing discrimination on grounds of sex, religion, physical experience and
many more such things. Equal employment opportunity will be of great help in reducing
potential barriers that act as hindrance in certain groups of people from entering or
progressing in a workplace (England 2017). This can be considered as primary elements that
help diversity to thrive in the workplaces. Promotion of equal opportunity in the workplace
has a significant effect on the motivational level of the employees as well. Equal opportunity
provides the employees with equal chances to be the leader or manager of a company.
