INTRODUCTION
Equality and diversity both are important aspect that provides an opportunity in
development of effective working or learning environment on each and every place. Equality is
the concept which includes equal treatment will all personnels irrespective to their age, religion,
sex, caste and gender (Equality and Diversity, 2019). Whereas, Diversity includes the allowance
of all individuals or personnels on the basis of their capabilities. Here, equal opportunity is
provided to all regarding the usage of their own potential, free from any kind of discrimination.
The main objective of this report is ascertaining the role of equality and diversity in building
effective teaching and learning environment.
This report has three different parts. First is research report which includes the
information related to the benefits of having or promoting equality and diversity, different
legislations & code of practices promoting equality and diversity and explanation of good
practice that help to provide information to individual learners. The second part is related to
personal account. This covers about use of own communication strategies for promotion of
equality and diversity and providence of recommendation to made changes in learning situations
and structures that does not promote equality and diversity. The third part is reflective account
and covers evaluation of own practice in promotion of equality and diversity, impact of own
behaviour over organisational culture in relation to equality and diversity and explanation of the
contribution of promoting equality and diversity towards the protection of learners from risk of
harm.
TASK A: Research Report
(a). Explanation of the concept of equality and diversity, its benefits and relevant legislations
Equality is about ensuring that large number of individuals are performing work in
organisational functions and operations. So it is complex to monitor and understand action and
activities of all workforce. Therefore, it is the responsibility for management to ensure that
organisation provides equality to all employees for completing all task and operations within
positive manner.
The term diversity refers that persons belongs to different backgrounds due to which they
follow different religion, value and culture for performing their activity. This also refers that all
employees perform work in effective manner to complete task with positive approach because

they work as a team and group to perform work in effective manner. Diversity meaning also
determines that applies with performance for gaining knowledge and value to create productive
and effective workforce (Healy, 2015).
Benefits of equality and diversity
Enhancement of new skills- People and workforce who belong to different backgrounds
and new experience leads employees to add new task and experience. This determines persons
belong to improve work by effective decisions to gain desired output.
Open of new market- people which are introduced in operations belong to different social
and cultural backgrounds so they provide knowledge of new market such as from their local
knowledge of their market.
Legislations related with equality and diversity
Equal pay act, 1970- according to this act, all task are performed with motive of gaining
adjustment that is related with leasehold as well as common hold to perform work and to gain
equal pay for operations. This also covers some key aspects such as race relation act, sex
discrimination act, employment equality act and many more.
(b). Actions to be taken for demonstration of value towards individual learners
The different actions which are taken regarding ascertainment of the value of individual
learners is presented below:
One to one feedback: All the learners in Church are provided the opportunity to provide
their view regarding their services they get and behaviour through which they are treated. Any
kind of discrimination will be easily determined through completion of this exercise. So, positive
measure in this direction help in redressal of same
(Sandell and Nightingale, 2012).
Implementation of suggestions of learners: This practice works because if anyone not
able to get equal value than application of their suggestion aid in removal of same.
Simultaneously, it provides an opportunity to develop more profound culture.
(c). Explanation of good practice that help to provide information individual learners
There are several good practices that can be used in providing information to learners. As
each person have different perspective towards their learning. So it is necessary to provide
information to learners. The good practices includes sharing of feedbacks with learners in their
learning process. As it provides assortment of formative assessments in their learning. The

involvement of families can build support system and makes easier for learning providers to
strengthen learners. It also involve making active in learning so that practitioner can enhance
learning process of learners. The information must be resourceful which can enhance their
learning capabilities. The staying up to date allow information providers to provide services to
learners. The good practices also includes discussion which enhance variety of options among
learners that help them to delivering information. This develops positive outlook among learning
environment from which learners can effectively learn information. The information providers
need to advocate learners in supplying information (Siim, 2013).

women which should. Practices of such discrimination must get
prohibited specially in places like church. Everybody must be
provided with equal opportunities irrespective to their gender.
Whether men or women, they both should get treated at par.

TASK C: Reflective Account
(a). Evaluation of the impact of own practice in promotion of equality and diversity
I am professionally working at church and provide teaching services related to public
health and health promotion. Also, having the main aim about the development of equality and
diversity at teaching place. One of the main practice which is used by me at my workplace for
the promotion of equality and diversity is about equal opportunity to all. The basic functioning of
this practice is about providence of equal opportunities to all learners and teachers irrespective to
their age, religion, caste, sex and gender. The benefit of same will be ascertained in future
regarding creation of positive working and learning culture, trust among each other towards their
services and removal of politics. This aspect in future leads the activities of workplace towards
equality and diversity (Klein, 2016).
(b). Analysis of own behaviour that can impact the organisational culture in relation to equality
and diversity
One of the flaw was identified by me in my own personality during the working within
the Church. This is related to my behaviour where I am biased towards learners, performing
good in leaning. This creates the distrust among the learners towards my personality that not able
to judge by adhering same criterion. The direct impact of this behaviour is ascertained over
organisational culture too (Gravells and Simpson, 2013). This resultants in to creation of
negative working culture where learners does not have trust over the teachers. On the other hand,
other teachers are also feel promoted and use such type of unethical practices in functioning of
their different work. Ultimately, this weaken the approach of equality an diversity at church and
promotes the culture of politics where benefits can be attained through misleading of others.
(c). Explanation that how working with other agencies help to promote diversity
Church has diversified operations and support of other agencies is must regarding
completion of activities on time. This includes the interaction of all different personnels with
each other. They also share their own ideas, workings and techniques for performing working
and their completion within stipulated period of time. All different working places have different
employees in accordance to their needs and working nature. Now, involvement of all in process
of working help each other to know about themselves. This will also aid each other in acceptance
of one's new skills, behaviour and techniques. This not only improves their working ability but

also provides opportunity to learn something new which is totally a new experiencing. This
promote the personnels to work with diversified culture of people and attain new qualities. This
will also promote the working places to hire diversified culture of people so each and every one
can learn from themselves and complete work on time with more quality (Ali. Burns and Grant,
2013).
(d). Description of promoting equality and diversity towards protection of learners from risk
Equality and diversity is the concept which includes about the providence of equal
opportunities to all without any discrimination. Also, includes about the equal treatment of all the
personnels irrespective to their caste, sex, religion etc. The main aim of both concepts is about
removal of discrimination and promotes the working culture where all can work with each other
towards the accomplishment of institutional goals. Right now, I am working in Church and
provides teaching services to different learners. In process of working, I am also having the main
aim about the development of equal treatment culture and providence of equal opportunity to all
without any discrimination. This will provides an opportunity in future regarding protection of
learners from the different type of risks such as biasness in learning, unequal treatment and
unequal opportunities. Ultimately, this will creates the culture where all are equal and learning
with each other in same and positive environment (Thompson, 2016).
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from the above report that equality diversity is important aspect
which is necessary to present at workplace for improvement of culture and learning. This has
same impact over teach and learning section as having on other working Sectors. The law that
protects such rights in all over the UK is Equality and Diversity Act, 2010. At teaching place,
communication technique of considering each one's opinion is used by me. The importance of
same is ascertained in the manner of promoting equality and diversity at workplace through
attainment of their all trust and belief. For further development of promotion and equality,
practice of equal opportunity is used at teaching place. This will help to grab each one's attention
along with support.
