INTRODUCTION
In today's corporate world, many companies are employing diverse workforce in order to
gain competitive advantage. Diversity as well as equality is important in order to ensure an
inclusive workplace. According to the employment law, it is very much important for companies
to provide equal salaries as well as working opportunities to all employees. Equality at
workplace helps in avoiding the ethical as well as legal issues.
The report have focus on identifying the need of equality, diversity and fair treatment at
workplace in context of Prudential public limited company. It is basically a British multinational
life insurance and financial services organization located in London. Study also emphasizes on
analyzing the effect of the business policies on Public services offered by business entity. Project
will also include evaluation of policies or legislation on working practices on the provision of
fair, equal and diverse public services.
MAIN BODY
P5 Describing the development of organizational policy in context of legislation and the role of

Policies can be referred to as a written statement which consists of set of rules ,
guidelines which are required to be followed by all workers in an organization. The purpose of
organizational policy is to ensure best practices at workplace. An appropriate policy helps in
improving the culture at workplace. Policy formulation is considered to be as an integral part of
planning procedure. It is very much important for manager in Prudential public limited company
to consider following factors before developing the policies these are business goals, current
legislation, business environment etc. As this tactic will help management in developing an
effective policy (Spencer-Cooke and van Dijk, 2017.). Management in an organization can
involve employee sin policy making procedure as this will support management in eliminating
ethical issues. Formulation of policy is lengthy procedure which involves different phases these
are :
Identification of Policy area: At the initial stage of procedure, it is required by manager in
Prudential public limited company to conduct internal audit, as this tactic will assist business
entity in identifying the area for which the policy are required to be formulated as well

implemented. It will also support management in addressing the problem for which specific
policy is required to be enforced. At this face, management in an enterprise are also required to
consider the objectives as well as the demands of business (Jeanes, 2017). At this phase, role of
trade union is to present the issues to management which are faced by employees within in an
organization. Some issues might be discrimination , low salaries, poor working environment,
long working hours etc. As this act of trade union will help management in identifying the type
of policy which is required to be executed.
Analyzing the alternative Policies: While creating policies, manager in Prudential public
limited company need to identify as well as analyze all the alternative policies. Manager for
identifying an alternative options for policies are required to conduct internal as well as external
assessment. Here , the function of trade union is to provide suggestions related to the alternative
policies which can be implemented in order to resolve specific issue. It is very much important
for manager in Prudential public limited company to ensure that policy developed by them has
capability to resolve specific issue or to drive firm towards accomplishment of desired objectives

important for manager in an organization to communicate the purpose, need and significance of
implementing specific policy, as this will assist management in eliminating the barriers and will
support in successful execution of policies. Function of trade union is to support administrative
department in enforcing policies at workplace.

illegal act to discriminate employees to discriminate employees on the basis of caste, color,
religion etc. All companies such as Prudential public limited company to comply with this
legislation, ass this will support an organization in achieving success and fostering growth.
Diversity supports an enterprise in development of ideas which can be utilized for expansion of
business (Packard, 2017). It assists an organization in delivering good or services to wide
number of customers. For instance, If an enterprise have a range of people different opinions
then it makes it much easier to target a wider range of customers. Diversity has also supported
Prudential public limited company in attracting more number of talented as well as skilled
employees. In addition to this, Employing people from different cultures may mean that an
organization can get benefits from diverse language skills, assisting business entity in selling
products and services globally . It also enables firm to provide enhanced customer support.

discriminated against at the workplace (Armstrong, Francis and Grow, 2017. ). In addition to
this, employees also feel they have equal opportunities for promotion and progression, and that
they are only being assessed on their performance and measurable merits. Workers feel
empowered because people in an enterprise know that they are only being employed for their
ability, just as is everyone else around them. An effective as well as clear policies is very
important for avoiding misunderstanding as well as conflicts at workplace.

There are basically two types of policies one has been originated by the act of parliament
and other is formulated by manager in an organization. It is very much important for manager in
prudential public limited company to develop policies considering the current legislation related
to employment in the country. Manager in prudential public limited company should also ensure
that policies as well as business process are reflecting ethical standards as well as legislation.
Disability act is created by the government which has direct as well as significant effect
on the policies developed as well as practices conducted by the human resource manager in
prudential public limited company. As per the disability act, it is important for employer to
