INTRODUCTION
Background to research
In this globalisation world the work integration creating a benchmark where the upcoming
mode of working culture adapting now a days, there was time when the work and wages was giving
on the basis of gender, caste and other demographic factors consideration but now the time has
changed the work culture different from its previous aura now the work is allocated as equal to all
demographic factors (Nachmias, Aravopoulou and Caven, 2019). Men and women are working
together by the changing of environment by upbringing of Equality and Diversity in the
organization, it helps to leads towards the equality in work and other activities. In Morrison
company which is situated in UK where a large no of employees are being working in different
branches through work diversity where employees get highly motivated by change of Morrison's
work culture diversified.
Research Question (s)/Hypothesis
Research Hypothesis furnish the particular data about the topic where the analysation being
made. The hypothesis made of this research project on the basis of the work consider perception to
identify the different characteristic of equality and diversity and also how it make impactful to
management that leads to get over the high range of discrimination and gender pay gap with in an
Morrison's company.

Research Aim and Objectives
The main aim behind conducting this research work is, “To study the consequences of
equality and diversity at workplace and its contribution to deal with the issue of gender pay gap in
an organisation.”
Objectives
The main objectives behind conducting this research work on Morrisons are as follows:
To study the concept of equality and diversity at workplace.
To study the contribution of equality and diversity concept to deal with the issue of gender
pay gap at Morrisons (Roberson, 2019).
To study the influence of equality and diversity at workplace on employee's performance.
Limitation of the study
At the time of doing this research project the limitation was that the data related to this topic
was not meeting up to the expectations, the significance and the sources of this research was limited
provided where the exploring about this project is surrounded only the given information not
beyond that.
Literature Review
A literature review is concerned with the analysing of articles with the some scholars paper which it
include facts and findings, analysing the data, knowledge about the findings of a particular research
topic.
To examine the concept of equality and diversity at workplace.
According to 'Ruth Mayhew' 2017, The equality and diversity at the workplace are two
different concepts in which equality is largely depended upon the diversity in order to the
maintaining and operating of the work. Diversity at workplace is refers to the scope of race, caste ,
colour, religion and other traits which defines the differences of workplace culture. While, equality
at workplace refers the equality with all perspective extent of employees all equal consideration
respect to the gender, caste, age and other demographic factors. This not only gives the equality in
facts it provide the quality of work and self esteem in the organization (Kamenou-Aigbekaen,
2019).

According to 'Jen Dewar' 2016, The contribution of equality and diversity at workplace is
imperative in nature, where the organization have to equality in gender base employees. It bring the
work flexibility. There should be not discriminate the gender into demographic factor as well as
position factor. The training is required to those employees who are unaware of working culture of
the organization at the time of recruiting and hiring the norms of related to work culture should be
discuss among them. Equality and diversity brings the equal work distribution among male and
females as well as in leadership role where they work in flexibility.
By applied the equality and diversity concept in Morrison company which is located in
United kingdom, it will bring the work reliability with no discrimination in aspects of gender, caste
and other factors, it help to improvised the relation between employees and superiors. The major
role of equality and diversity in Pay structure to employees where it consists that there should be no
discrimination into pay structure between employees as in gender basis, the wages decided on the
basis of work and time allotment as per competencies (Gottardello, 2019). While, it can not decided
on the basis of gender which implies sound unlogical it will create conflicts within the organization.

According to 'Louis Petty 2016'. The objective of equality and diversity simplifies that
everyone in the organization get the same opportunities with fair judgements. the influence of
equality and diversity at workplace can directly impact on employees performance such as it
increases motivation, improves the work quality, appraisal and recognitions, healthy relationship
among peers. It make understand the work ethics about the organizational work culture in where all
the members of the organization have to follow the rules and regulations and core values. It works
all rounder as it help to growth in the venture where it help to reach more and more customers and
increase the goodwill as well.
Research Methodology
It generally refers the various methods and techniques for used to assessment the research
work with more effective ways. The description about research methodologies used for the present
identification is provided below with its justification.
Research philosophy- Out of two type of philosophy for this research the use of Positivism
philosophy is made for the present research work as it proper defines more partial and scientific
source of data collection and other aspects of research(Thomson, Wei and Swallow, 2019).

Research approach- It defines the plan and process which useful to analyzing and interpreting
assumed data. There is two type of approaches deductive and inductive, in this research the
deductive approach is being used to investigation and formulation of the data.
Research methods- From the two type of methods of research includes quantitative and qualitative
in this the quantitative research method is being used to investigate the collection of data in
arithmetical terms where it shows the better presentation (Syed and Ozbilgin, 2019).
Source of data collection- Researcher has made use up both of primary and secondary source of
data collection as it ensures the direct interaction with respondents together with the supply from
past (Scott-Baumann and et. al., 2019).
Use of random sampling is made to select 20 managers from the Morrison in order to
develop better understanding about various policies of this organization. Use of questionnaire is
made to gather information from these individuals.

A questionnaire is a research instrument consisting of series questions to only purpose for
gathering the all information regarding with research and collection of data analysis from the
respondents (Agbontaen, 2019).

Research Findings
It includes the various information and main outcomes of research work. The research
findings from above investigation includes the knowledge about the contribution lead by equality
and diversity in improving performance of employees through enhancing their morale and
creativity. Further, the research outcomes also includes the information about various strategies that
facilitates elimination of discrimination through providing effective communication and a
transparent decision making together with unbiased HR practises to reduces the chances of gender
pay gap.
Conclusion and recommendations
On the basis of above research findings following recommendations can be made for
Morrisons to eliminate discrimination and gender pay gap from its workplace:
Unbiased HR practises is an effective way through which Morrisons can eliminate issue of
gender pay through having a fair and transparent HR practises that includes equal growth
opportunities and salary.
Effective communication is also recommended for Morrisons as it ensures proper
interaction between employees and employer thus, keeps things more clear and unbiased
which also lead creation of equality. A proper participation in decision making is also an
effective way reduce discrimination.
CONCLUSION
On the basis of above assignment it can be concluded that equality and diversity lead a
significant contribution in eliminating discrimination through creating an atmosphere of fairness
and unbiasness. It can also be summarised that effective communication, transparent decision
making, Unbiased HR practises are effective way to resolve the issue of discrimination and gender
pay gap from the organisation.
