Dear selection committee of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree.
I am writing for the Post Graduate (MSc) degree on Tourism Development and
Culture delivered by The University of Glasgow (UoG), Lund University (LU), The
University of Malta (UM), and the University Institute Lisbon (IUL). I graduated in Diploma
in Management, from the Technological University Tajikistan in 2010. I also acquired an Ex-
Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IMI India. During my studies and through the
subsequent work experiences, I have gained significant interest and knowledge in important
fields like sociology, humanities and psychology. Furthermore, I have also gained significant
expertise in the English language through exposure. In terms of languages, I have proficient
user fluency in Russian (C2) and English (C1) as well as a basic user fluency in French (A1).
I had started off my professional career with volunteering for a number of financial
organisations as a student. Afterwards I worked for more than five years as an assistant to the
professor at Technological University of Tajikistan. Within that tenure I supervised students
on subjects like Marketing Research, Consumer Behaviour and Human Resource
Management. This had also allowed me to develop several of my key professional skills,
while helping me develop a strong interest in marketing and HRM myself.
My two latest professional experience include working as a volunteer intern at Good
Neighbors, an NGO, and at the Front Office in The Bareffot Eco Hotel, where I am presently
employed. My current job requires me to attend to visitors, either in person or over the
telephone, responding to various queries, maintaining effective communication between the
visitors and the management, monitoring security and maintaining a safe and neat reception
area. This job allows me to deal with tourists and visitors on a vast scale, and has been a
significant motivator for my decision to progress with the current Master’s Degree
programme that I am applying to.

I have always had a proclivity towards academics in general. The current degree
programme allows me to revisit the academic domain and expand my knowledge. This
scholarship would be a significant opportunity for me to be able to develop my skills as well
as gain deeper knowledge and understanding of various diverse cultural aspects associated
with the tourism industry. Not only am I looking forward to learn about the tourism industry
as a professional field of knowledge, I would also be applying my prior knowledge of
management, marketing and HRM in the prospect. The scholarship offers me a valuable
opportunity to exercise these aspects of professional development in some of the most
prestigious global educational institutions in some of the most beautiful, friendly and
favourable countries in Europe.
