2ERGONOMICS CONFERENCE REPORT
Introduction
People might think that office furniture abd facilities do not matter when it comes to
employee productivity. Ergonomics is related to anything and everything that is related to
people in a workplace. Workplaces can be designed so that it is appropriate for the people
that work there through a process (Robertson, Ciriello & Garabet, 2013). Ergonomics is
sometimes referred to as ‘human factors’ and the main idea is to improve the workplace
condition, improve the interaction of people with the organizational systems and equipment
and help them overcome their limitations. This practice also ensures that the workplace is
safe, chances of injury are minimum and the workers are able to take rest or recreation in
between work (Gupta et al., 2014). The impact of ergonomics in workplace improvement,
specifically the use of proper furniture needs to be implemented so that the workers in
GreenAiry can perform better.
Discussion
It has been seen that lower back pain is the most common kind of disability one
might face in a workplace. People from different sectors, involved in different activities fall
victim to this disease all over the world. Good ergonomic practice is about creating
comfortable workspaces that will foster improvement in production and ensure safety.
Benefits
While creating an ergonomic workspace, experts consider a wide range of employee
data including body size of the employees, number of employees, light, heat, noise,
communication facility and many more. As a company grow, the need for workspace will
also increase. Ergonomics allows the company to create spaces that can be easily extended.
There are certain benefits to ergonomic workspace:

Cost reduction
Ergonomic reduces the chance of workplace injury and risk. This leads to decrease in
compensative expenditure for the company. The indirect costs related to injury and risk will
reduce.
Increased productivity
It makes the employees more productive and healthy. Good posture and safety measures
improves the employee activity. They are less likely to feel fatigued or spent if they have
scientific workstations (Wilson, 2014).
Improved employee engagement
Employees are more engaged with their work if they feel that the organization is looking after
their well-being. Moreover, they feel more active and energized if they have ergonomic
workspace. Employee turnover and absenteeism improves.
Better safety culture
Ergonomics increases the safety culture of the company and becomes the core value. By
including these requirements in company policy makes the company stand out. Managing and
retaining the employees become easier.
Measures
There are certain measures that can be taken by GreenAiry to create an ergonomic
workplace. These are:
Creating flexible workstations: the workstation should be made in such a way that
they can be adjusted according to the height and requirement of the employee.

Safety control: ensuring safety, using materials that are less likely to create trouble
should be practiced. Machines and equipment should have safety standards (Ali, & Bandara,
n.d.).
Sit-stand desks: researches show that the workers prefer desks that allow the workers
to both sit and stand while working.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that ergonomic is important for an
organization. Motivated and happy workers produce better quality work. Fatigue and
discomfort does not allow anyone to produce their best quality in work. Ergonomics ensure
that the workers are physically fit and are able to work to their best of ability. With flexible
working stations, sit and stand workspace and safety control measures the workers of
GreenAiry would be much motivated to work and they would perform better thus turning the
organization into a high performing organization and increasing its productivity.
