1EQUALITY AND DISCRIMINATION
Equality and Discrimination are one of the most controversial issues which the world
has been facing in the recent times. Equality is considered to be very important for the world
in the present times as there have problems of discrimination in the world. People are being
discriminated not only on the basis of race, cast, creed, gender and other categories. This had
become a major problem for the world. It is therefore, stated by the experts as well as many
critics that the equality among people on every ground should be established so that the
people of the world can live peacefully and in harmony with each other. All these problems
in the world makes it essential for the equality to be established in the world so that the peace
and harmony can be restored in the world itself.
The purpose of this essay is to determine the reasons and to find out why
equality should be established among the people of the world and how can the equality
prevent discrimination in the world itself. This debate will speak in support of
establishing equality and preventing discrimination in the world.
It is commonly known by all the individuals in the world that equality is one of the
most important and much needed requirements in the world itself. This equality is based not
only on the people from different countries as well as cultures, bit it is also based on the race,
caste, creed and gender of the individuals. This is because of the fact that discrimination of
the individuals based on these grounds is increasing. People are being discriminated not only
in their schools and colleges, but also in their work places and also in their personal lives as
well. It is exactly for these reasons that equality is considered to be important for many
experts as they are of the opinion that equality is the solution to the problems of
discriminations that the world had been facing in the modern times (Weller, 2016). Equality
is something that is much needed on the world in the present scenario so that the
discrimination can be prevented and the people of the world can be happy as well as

contented with each other. The following paragraphs will discuss the various reasons why
equality is considered to be important for the individuals as well as for the world itself.
It is well known among the human beings that equality is considered to be one of the
foundation of a society because it is the place which allows an individual to reach his/her
potential. He/she gets the same opportunities as the other members of the society which
helps/her to achieve the goals and the objectives which he/she intends to. It does not involve
itself into partiality, giving preference to one group of individuals over the others. Therefore,
equality is an important requirement for the individuals not only in the field of education but
also in other sectors like work and also his/her personal life. Equality is also important
because it allows the individuals to accept other individuals just as the way they are instead of
discriminating those individuals on the basis of their caste and creed. This is because if he
does not accept the individuality of the others, then it would be a problem for him because it
would be accounting to discrimination on the part of the individual himself (Wetherell,
2013). Therefore, it can be seen from all these points itself that the equality has to play and
important role in the world itself in order for the people to live in peacefully with each other.
Equality is important for the individuals not only on the basis of the identity, but also
on the grounds of race, caste, colour as well as creed of the individuals themselves. All the
individuals should be able to abide by the principles of equality and the way in which the
equality of the individuals will be maintained without causing any kind of discriminations
among the people of the world themselves. Gender equality is also another important issue
which is present in the world in the current times. As stated by Fredman (2018), it has been
found that the people have found themselves discriminated on the basis of gender in the
recent times. This is because these people consider the male gender to be more superior than
the female genders themselves. It is because of these reasons that the women were not
allowed to participate in sports or other activities which were considered to be the sports for

men. However, equality is an important in this matter because it is equality which can
enabled the women to participate in sports in the modern times of the world itself.
All of these factors prove the point that discrimination is indeed one of the most
serious issues that the world has been facing in the recent times. It is because of the
discrimination that people complain that they have been wronged by the society itself. The
world had been facing the problems of discrimination ever since the time civilization had
started to develop in the world itself. Discrimination can be of several different types and the
people are said to be suffering from discrimination of different types as gender
discrimination, workplace discrimination, discrimination between the rich and the poor etc.
The main cause why people discriminate others is said to be the feeling of superiority which
they feel compared to people from the other countries of the world. This form of
discrimination at times, goes to an extreme situation, which in that case becomes racism
(Keller, 2019). Thus, these points support the fact that discrimination is indeed a problem
itself and hence needs to be controlled by the members of the society themselves so that such
problems do not happen in the world and the people of the world can be free of any kind of
discrimination which they encounter daily in their lives not only in their workplaces but also
in their society as well.
Equality has been claimed to be the solution to the problem of discrimination which
the world has been facing in the present scenario of the world itself. Equality is the only
medicine to the disease of discrimination which plagues the world itself. Equality can help
the people in the removal of discrimination from the world in a number of ways. These
includes establishing a number of strategies and principles which would allow the people to
focus on the principles of equality and the various ways in which this equality can help the
people in the society itself (Thompson, 2017). Equality should be used at every point of an
individual’s life to make sure that the people follow the principles of equality which could

help them to overcome the problems of discrimination which ails them. If the people in the
world starts to respect each other and their cultures as their cultures as they belong to
different countries from each other, then the problem of discrimination would easily be
removed from the world itself. If the discrimination is removed from the world itself then
equality will be the most important principle which will serve the interests of the people
themselves. As stated by Fredman (2016), equality will also be one of the most important
elements of the gender for the people as gender equality will allow both males as well as
females to participate in the same activities in the way. This is important because it will
ensure a healthy competition between the people of both the genders which will also enable
them to participate in various other kind of activities as well. Thus, it has been truly said by
the experts themselves that equality among all can definitely help to abolish the problems of
discrimination in the world itself.
However, there are oppositions who do not agree to this claim. They are of the
opinion that total equality among the people would lead to anarchy and hence would kill the
competition itself because all the people of the world would be equal in all aspects of their
lives. Therefore, if they are equal, then there would be nothing for them to compete against.
While these experts themselves do not support the problems of discrimination among the
people themselves, however, they state that it can be removed by other methods which would
serve as an alternative to equality. Hence, from the arguments of these people, it can be stated
that they oppose equality as it kills the competition in the market itself (Wetherell, 2013).
From the above statements, it can be concluded that the problem of discrimination is
one of the serious issues which the world has been facing in the world itself. Hence, it can be
stated from these discussions, that the equality is one of the most important principles and
hence, it should be established in the world itself so that the people of the world can live in

happily and also in peacefully with that of one another, at the same time, respecting the
