Describe the events and the experience
The group communication is one of the most essential and integral part of the day to day
business affairs. Without proper communication it is really very tough to implement any
particular business idea. One has to make sure that all the members in the group are putting
forward a joint collaborative effort in order to make sure that they are being able to achieve the
target as well.
I think that the group activity that we have undertaken really helped us a lot in order to
understand the importance of maintaining a proper connection between and transparent
communication between each other. One of the important aspects that are used by the managers
and the leaders to carry on the communication is the Golden rule. I have learnt from this
assignment that while conducting some group meetings there are issues among the members. As
is seen from the case the four members were not happy with the ways in which all of them used
to carry on the meetings (Bhaskaran et al., 2015). It is for this reason that Ari, Ron, Sam and
other members did not really like to cope up with the each other.
As per the theory given by Sinek, the leaders must be using the question why in order to
carry on the focus of their work in a proper way. In other words, I think that all the 4 partners
that were involved in the group project must have questioned themselves as to why the
communication is not taking properly within their group. I think that as it is evident from the
given case that the one of the member was about to get shifted to a new geographical location,
the other members must have kept it in mind that there will be some problems in the

communication of the message or the decisions being taken in the group. Thus, I think that the
concept of virtual team might have been developed in order to make sure that even after shifting
to another place the team members can stay in contact. I think that the modern scientific
technology must have been used in order to carry on the group meetings even if there were some
geographical barriers.
Interpret and evaluate the events from your perspective
I think that the group managers must think about some kinds of alternatives in order to
make sure that the situation is being brought under their control. However, it is true that there
must be a proper understanding among all the members of the group of they want to succeed in
the long run. The alternatives measures are there that might help the group to work on their level
of communication clarity.
In other words, they have to make sure that they are being able to consider all the options
like appointing a devil’s advocate, Increase group size, heterogeneity, Remove physical
isolation, Facilitate organisational graffiti and many others. I feel that as far as the assignment is
concerned the best possible alternative methods that might have been taken by the company are
Remove physical isolation. This is mainly because of the fact that the traditional concept of the
us and them must be abolished. This will help the team to progress forward by understanding
that in order to develop a proper and transparent communication system among all the members
they have to become much more diverse. In other words, they have to understand that that in
order to move forward for accomplishing the goals they have to get over the age old traditional
methods (Bhaskaran et al., 2015). However this is also true that it is tough for the team to adapt
to any new and modern scientific methods of communication all of a sudden. Increasing the size

of the group is also another important option or the alternative that could have been used by the
team. One of the events that happened was the way if conducting the meeting as not liked by all
the members. Some of the team member felt that there was too much interruption in the meeting.
During the group meetings, Jacki likes to focus on one issue at a time while Ari likes
to chat generally about ideas and presentation strategies. Jacki thinks that Ari interrupts Ron
and Sam too
much and wastes time – Ron and Sam are keen to learn about the topic because it is directly
relevant to their
future work.
I have learnt from these given statements that the members did not really establish any
common grounds of connection with one another. This also shows that there was a lack of proper
connection or a kind of unified approach that is needed for carrying on the team work in a proper
way.
I have also seen that the group communication was often hampered due to the lack of
proper leadership. Thus the new kind of insight that I have gained is that a proper kind of
leadership is needed so that the group members can take up their jobs properly and can perform
their duties in a proper manner (Aten, Nardon and Stanko, 2016). I will make sure that from this
point of time, I will always try to take the proper help from my leader so that I can work properly
within a team. This is mainly because of the fact that a leader or a manager has to be there in
order to lead their team members and also to motivate them. From this point of time, I will

always try to break the age old traditional methods of team communication. I will try to develop
myself as a good listener so that I can actually get to know about the ideas and the views of each
and every member. Rather than questioning the ability of others and fighting against them I
WILL make sure that I am being able to deal with each and every matter in a very peaceful
manner.
Reflect in how the information will be used
This information is very useful to me in each aspect because in the long run, I will have
to take part in many of the team or group activities, I will have to make sure that I am being able
to make a positive contribution in order to make then team attain proper success. I will also have
to keep this thing in mind that I can handle this particular situation in a different manner. In order
to do this, I will henceforth try to keep a very calm mind when never I am facing this kind of
situation. I will also try to use the alternative of appointing a devil’s advocate. In other words, I
will assist my tem or my team members to appoint a risk manager who will be helping the team
to get prepared against the poor pr the worst case scenario as well. This will really be very
helpful for the team to be successful in the long run.
Topic 5 Interpersonal Communication
Describe the events and the experience
As a part of this assignment, I have taken many such skills like working with numbers,
being creative in each and every project that I am undertaking. The other important thing that I

have undertaken are staying fit and also in managing proper communication. I have felt that one
of the most important thing that I need to carry on in this particular project.
I have come to learn about the proper relationship between the listening, interruption and
the agreement. In order to carry on the communication properly, I have to make sure that there is
a clear and transparent communication that is being carried on properly. I felt that during the
ongoing course of the assignment, I had some problems in understanding what the team lead was
saying. Initially I felt that the team leader was not very clear. I realized that I was not being able
to understand what was being conveyed in the class. It was during the sessions and the seminars
that I came to know about the issue that was present within me (Harris and Sherblom, 2018). I
realized that I am becoming very restless.
I need to make sure that I am not losing my listening ability. I have to make sure that I
am trying to listen to all the bits and pieces of the news that are being conveyed in any team
meeting. I can do this only if I am working over my concentration level. I have to make sure that
I am being able to recollect the news after I hear them (Oetzel, 2017). I have also undergone
some kinds of changes in my thought. I will be able to do this only if I know how to react to the
good and also the bad news. Hence forth I will make it a habit that I am being able to understand
and also react to the good and the bad news equally. Earlier I had a habit of only paying attention
to the good and the positive needs (Peters, 2017). However after taking this assignment I have
realized that in order to carry on a smooth and uninterrupted interpersonal communication I have
to make sure that I am being able to listen to and also react to the bad news as well. This will
help me to listen to the grounds where I can improve.

I have also realized that I need to be a very good listener. I have to make sure that I am
developing myself to be a very good and assertive listener. I need to make sure that I am also
allowing others to clearly justify their points; I will henceforth try to get rid of my bad habit of
interrupting people in-between their speeches. This is really a bad habit. I have seen that
speaking in between is often very disturbing. Though it is true that I am having a very inquisitive
nature, I will be trying to keep it under control I will surely clear all my doubts? However I will
make sure that I am raising those questions after the sessions or the speech of then speaker is
over. This will help in allowing others to place their points properly and get to know about the
solution as well. I have also learnt that there are some of the very essential body languages or
elements that I need to keep in mind while speaking like

I have also realized that I am being able to do stress myself. I will be making sure that I
am paying attention to what is being said at the class. I will be making sure that I am giving a

chance to others so that they can actually talk about all their points freely. I will make sure that I
trying to make myself much more calm and composed (Reece and Reece, 2016). This will surely
be very helpful for me as I will be able to make myself organized. However at the same time, I
have to make sure that I am allowing others to listen to me. In order to do this, I will have to
make myself very polite, soft spoken, gentle and also empathetic. I have to support people who
are not being able to understand the messages that are being conveyed by me. I will try my level
best to help each other and make sure that I am speaking in a empathetic manner.
I will also start using the modern advanced methods of technology. This will help me to
make sure that I am being able to reduce the span or the gaps in the course of paying proper
attention to the things that are being communicated. Tools like the cloud learning system, video
calling systems and mobile phone apps will be useful in communicating with the speakers who
are located far away. This wills also help in making the entire process of the interpersonal
communication system.
