OBESITY 2
Introduction
Personal problem is a situation which involves an individual on a different background.
Personal problems cause negative impacts to a person. The problems include relationship issues,
health issues and also other physical issues among others.
When a person becomes bankrupt, it proves hard for him to maintain his standard of
living. This creates tension that he might think of stealing to get money for his upkeep thus
becoming a burden to the society (Cuban, 2018). A person may also get ill and therefore would
not make to the job and so he would be stressed on how to solve the issue.
Social problems affect the society in so many ways. Hostility and suspicion are the major
issues that affect society at large. Hostility creates suffering and misery. These do not help solve
problems affecting the society but instead, they create more issues of serious degrees which then
becomes of no use to the whole society (Hudson & Harrison, 2016). They are not welcomed to
the society since they create disharmony and maladjustment.
Obesity is a chronic sickness that has a negative impact on one’s body. It is the
accumulation of fat which leads to the risk of getting many diseases and thus causing health
problems such as heart diseases, blood pressure, and diabetes (Lewis, 2018). Its causes are
complex since obesity can be brought by factors such as genetics, and how the body utilizes
energy.
Obesity as a personal problem leads to high blood pressure. Fatty tissues in the body need
oxygen and nutrients and therefore, blood vessels have to circulate blood to the fat tissue. This
forces the heart to pump blood using more pressure. High pressure increases blood pressure and
also weight raises the heart rate and hence it reduces the capability of the body to transport blood
(Cuban, 2018). This leads to the death of the individual and consequently leading to the burden
in the society in case the victim was a breadwinner in a family.
Obesity also leads cancerous infections. This is brought by the overweight. Treating
cancer is so costly (Hudson & Harrison, 2016). The individual ends up spending a lot of money
which could have been used in society to enhance development.
Obesity is evident as a social problem because it leads to psychosocial impacts. People
who have obesity suffer many disadvantages (Lewis, 2018). They are blamed for their situation
and are considered lazy. This results in an individual getting low incomes and also there obese
situation may lead to discrimination by other members of the society.
