SOCIAL ESSAY
In the essay I am going to talk about how primary and secondary agents of
socialization have helped me to evolve as a social being. By primary agent of socialization I
consider that the group I belong to has assisted me in formation of opinion or the attitude that
I carry within myself. Now, how I have acquired the entire process of assimilation of new
things within myself is the section of secondary agent which is again the culture that I belong
to has taught me in multiple ways. I have started accepting things like growing into pop
culture that is truly common in our generation implying the primary agent of socialization
whereas I have heard the same kind of music that are played as the background scores of
different commercials or in different restaurants. That is how I have learnt the process of
creeping deep into the pop culture which is my country famous for.
Schools, family, neighbors, peer groups, Mass media and advancement of technology
are few ways that helped me to form my opinion in the matter of socialization. The most
which has helped me in evolving as a person is my educational institution. Although family is
our closest part yet I believe I spend most of the time of a day in my educational institution.
Since both my parents are working I do get to spend more time with them rather I spend more
than 8 hours in my college or school previously. The way the teacher and the professor shows
us what to do, what not to or what is good and what should be abandoned strongly get etched
in our mind. I have a very good bonding with my professors. Therefore the way I interact
with other people or the music that I listen to is mostly influenced by the environment of my
educational institution.
