1COMMUNICATION AND THOUGHTS
The process of communication forms an important part of not only the personal lives
of the various individuals but also their professional lives (McNaughton and Light 2013). In
the present world of technological advancement it is generally seen that the level of success
attained by a particular individual depends on the kind of communication skill which the
concerned individual person possesses (Peeraer and Van Petegem 2012). Therefore, it would
be apt to say that the process of communication or more appropriately the skill of effectively
communicating with the other individuals has emerged as one of the major area of interest in
the present times. The “Information and communication technology” is one such field which
requires the use of effective communication skills on the part of the individuals who are
involved in this particular industry (Yan et al. 2013). This essay will try to highlight the key
interpersonal communication skills which are important to excel in this particular field.
The “Information and communication technology” is one of the areas of the
modern world which requires the constant use of the various kinds of communication skills
(Bloom et al. 2014). The process of communication is forms an integral part of this particular
industry and is required to effectively convey the messages as well as the other important
kinds of information to the relevant people (Bloom et al. 2014). It is significant to note that
the “Information and communication technology” is one which requires the constant use of
the technique or the skill of effective communication more than any other industry and thus it
becomes very important for the individuals belonging to this particular industry to develop
the skill of effective communication. In the opinion of many people to be a good speaker or a
good communicator for that matter a person should be a good listener (Bloom et al. 2014).
Therefore, it is very important for the persons related to this particular industry to be good
listeners and active listen to the information or the message which is being delivered to them
or actively listen to the things which are being told to them during the process of a particular
communication (Wang et al. 2014). Furthermore, it can be said that active listening skills

plays a significant role in the personal development as well as the communication skill
development of the individuals and at the same time helps the individuals to attain the
relevant skills which would help them to sustain themselves in this particular industry (Wang
et al. 2014).
The concept of feedback is another significant feature which plays a key role during
the process of effective communication. The primary use of the concept of various feedbacks
which are given by the various individuals after an information or message is being delivered
to them is to understand whether the information or the message which is being delivered to
them has been understood by them or not (Robles 2012). Therefore, the various business
organizations in this particular field of industry often resort to this particular method to
understand whether the information delivered to them has been understood in the most
effective manner or not (Robles 2012). As already mentioned the industry of the “Information
and communication technology” is one which requires the constant use of the process of
effective communication and therefore it becomes of paramount importance for the various
individuals as well as the business organizations related to this particular industry to take the
help of this particular method in a bid to understand whether the messages as well as the
information which has been delivered by them has been understood in the most effective
manner or not. It is significant to note that it is often seen that the messages as well as the
information which are being delivered to the individuals are not being understood by them in
the most effective manner and therefore the concept of feedback not only helps the concerned
persons to understand whether the information delivered has been understood by them or not
but at the same time helps them to understand whether any clarification is required on their
part or not (Gao et al. 2012). Thus, in the opinion of many people this is one of the primary
skills which the various individuals related to this particular industry need in a bid to not

excel in this particular industry but also to sustain themselves in this particular industry (Gao
et al. 2012).
The concept of questioning is another significant feature which forms an important
part of the overall process of effective communication. The various questions which an
individual asks during the process of a conversation shows the level of interest which that
person has in the conversation which is going on or of which he or she is a part of (Daim et
al. 2012). Furthermore, the act of questioning also helps the various individuals to clarify the
things which he or she has not being able to understand during the course of the conversation
(Daim et al. 2012). It is significant to note that many times the messages or the information
which is being delivered to the individuals is not being properly understood by them in the
most effectively and therefore it becomes very important for them to use the concept of
questioning to effectively understand the message or the information which is being
conveyed to them. Therefore, in the “Information and communication technology” industry it
becomes very important for the individuals to learn the concept of questioning about the
aspects of the information or the message which is being delivered to them. However, it is
generally seen that the individuals get confused as to the things they need to question and
thus end up questioning the very information which is being delivered to them (Daim et al.
2012). Therefore, it would be apt to say that the art of questioning would not only help the
individuals related to this particular industry to understand the messages as well as the
information which are being delivered to them but also to inculcate the skills which are
required for the process of effective communication.
The above given interpersonal communication skills form the basis of the process of
effective communication. Therefore, it can be said that it becomes very important for the
individuals related to the “Information and communication technology” industry to inculcate
as well as develop these skills so that they can develop the art of effective communication

which forms the basis of this particular industry (Buabeng-Andoh 2012). Furthermore, these
communication skills will act as a major advantage to the individuals as the art of effective
communication is not only required in the “Information and communication technology”
industry but in other industries as well as thus the number of options which the individuals
will have will be significantly more (Buabeng-Andoh 2012).
To conclude, communication forms an important part of the lives of the individuals
and in the present times it is generally seen that the future prospects of a particular individual
depends on how good he or she is being able to utilize this particular tool. Furthermore, the
art of effective communication becomes especially more important in the “Information and
communication technology” which is dependent on the process of effective communication
more than any other industry. Therefore, it can be said that the level of success attained by a
particular individual in this particular industry will depend on the extent to which he or she
has developed the skill of communication.
