Research aim
“To investigate how to improve air quality in London through the study of sources of air
pollution in the city”
Research objectives
 To identify the major sources of air pollution in different parts London city.
 To examine the concentration of the air pollutants emitted in the city.
 To determine the number of deaths resulting from air pollution complications in London.
 To identify the strategies that need to be put in place to curb air pollution rate in London.
 To identify the possible responsibilities of individuals, local government and national
government in reduction of air pollution in London.
Research methodology
It is an important section of undertaking research as it provides framework in gathering
reliable data and information towards the specified research topic and area.
Research approach: It is referring to the procedure that includes detailed method of data
collection, data analysis and interpretation that assist in drawing a valid conclusion at the end of
the study. It is classified into two methods such as inductive and deductive research approach. As
per current research, deductive method will be applied by investigator as it helps in gathering
measurable data on the basis of specified research area (Zhang, Zhang and Chen, 2017).
Research design: In undertaking research activities, it considers as an effective strategy that
select by investigator to integrate the different components of research in a coherent and logical
way. It divided into different methods such as descriptive, experimental and exploratory research
design. In order to undertake present study, investigator will apply descriptive research design as
it is focuses on developing hypothesis as per existing theory. By this research can draw a valid

Data collection method: It is procedure of collecting as well as measuring data on the

order to analyse all the collected data, researcher will use regression model that help in
determining the effects of introducing new strategies within the city (Bohnenstengel and et. Al.,
2015). With the assistance of this, investigator can make appropriate results within the study to
make it more reliable and authentic in nature.
Validity and reliability: In this investigation, data will gather from the particular city as per
random basis as it covers large area for acquiring data. In this, the main focus of researcher is to
gather reliable and valid information so that right and meaningful results can be easily attained.
For this, questionnaire will be prepared by researcher that help in obtaining valid results. As, it
helps in understanding the view point of selected respondents that directly contributes in
presenting more accurate data. Thus, the collected data is more reliable and authentic in nature.
Ethical consideration
It is important for researcher to carry out research activities in an ethical manner. At the time
of undertaking research activities, investigator face various ethical issues including unethical
behaviour of participants, lack of confidentiality, honesty and integrity, less carefulness and
many more. All these are major issue that researcher have faced at the time of collecting data
towards the specified research topic. Thus, it is significant for researcher follow all the ethical
principles to make overall research more authentic and reliable in nature.
Respect for the autonomy
At the time of undertaking research, implementing ethical principle is important because it
provide assistance in gathering valid information without any kind of interruption. In this,
researcher take access and permission from respondents before filling questionnaire. For this,
researcher fill consent from by using probabilistic sampling technique (Murray and Nash, 2017).
Along with this, investigator also make sure that all the participants get fair treatment and also
keep all the personal information confidential. This will contribute in building trust among
selected participants as they can easily share their views and opinion with respondents.
Scientific integrity
While undertaking research, it is significant for investigator make sure that all the collected
data in authentic in nature. For this, researcher use questionnaire for gathering primary method
directly from selected participants. As this type of information measurable in nature that assist in

close- ended questions that asked from the selected participants to draw a valid conclusion.
Social responsibility
This research is based on how to improve air quality in London city as it includes society for
gathering data towards the selected topic. In this the main focus of investigator is to protect
participants and also respect for the dignity and integrity of person from which data is collected.
Along with this, research is based on the qualitative method as researcher keep all personal data
of people confidential because they have responsibilities towards the society as well. This will
contribute in improvising the possibilities of attaining authentic data.
Maximum benefits and minimising harm
At the time of collecting data and information, investigator face various issues or potential
risk towards the personal values. As they make sure that selected participants do not get any kind
of harm and provide them assistance in sharing their view points with investigator. This is
beneficial for researcher to analyse proper findings that directly contributes in attaining authentic
results (Warnock, 2015). In addition to this, investigator also responsible for storing collected
