According to Mayer and et.al., (2021) tourism is all about based on a
movement of people which is outside of their own residential area. So, it is
all about movement from one city to another or country to country. This
sector is contributed to the highest to raise GDP of a country.
During pandemic, government imposed strict regulation and lockdown
within a nation and this affect the entire tourism. In 2019, inbound tourism
was estimated as £78 bn to the UK economy but it has also fall by 78% at
the end of 2020. This is due to increasing covid cases within a country.
Along with this, 14 days self isolation policy also discourage people to visit
the places and this is in turn affected the entire business into negative
manner.
Apart from this, airline industry has also affected adversely in the
country’s performance and as per the government regulation, all the
airlines are strictly banned that affect the travel industry in negative
manner. It has been analysed by Sharma, Thomas and Paul (2021) that
there is a negative impact identified over the tourist because their
demand has fall day by day due to strict regulation imposed by the
government. Also, it causes the adverse impact over the business
performance of airline and tours because due to shortage of tourist within
a country, their financial performance affected adversely (Pandemic
impact on UK travel and tourism industry, 2020).
