TASK 3
Justification of decision taken to resolve dilemma
Shinning shoes is given the chance to get business promotion from a popular website in
discounted rates. This can be advantageous for Shinning shoes in expanding its customer base
but the other company is accused of misbehaving with their employees. Due to discrimination,
harassment and bullying by management, website has received a lot of criticism. Working with
this website will be beneficial for Shinning shoes in advertising and promoting their products to
wide numbers of customers (Liuand Ditto, 2013). This will help the company in increasing their
sales and revenues but it can considerably demotivate the workforce in Shining shoes. For short
term, taking help of popular website will be beneficial for the company where in long term, it
can reduce the brand image of Shinning Shoes. This is a big ethical dilemma for the company, if
company will work with website it will results in discouraged staff and bad market reputation
and if company will not work with website then it will results in financial loss as promotional
activities will not be carried out at discounted rates (Smith, 2014).
In this case, company is not going to work with popular website at discounted rates. This
is because, employees are the biggest assets of the company. Dissatisfying or demotivating them
can harm the overall productivity of company as their working potential will be reduced. This
will reduce the sales and profitability of company in a considerable manner. To avoid the impact
of not working with popular website, Shinning shoes can switch to some other company which
have a positive image in market (Lo, B2012).
There is another case i.e. O'Brien v Bolton St Catherine's Academy case in which an
employee faces discrimination by her employer due to long term sickness. As O'Brien was
medically fit to work again she was not given the chance to deliver her duties as a employee in
Bolton St Catherine's Academy. She faced discrimination on the basis of disability (Shapiro and
Stefkovich, 2016).
As Shinning shoes have formulated the value of giving equal opportunities to its
workforce, it is the responsibility of manager to consider that no employee must be discriminated
on the basis of caste, religion, colour, disability etc. This will helps in sustaining a positive
working environment within company (Welland and Pugsley, 2019).
