Introduction
In the case study, it is seen that incident took place of killing. It is seen that the murder
was done because Roy Abanales Tabalbag found his girlfriend having sex with the other
person. This paper highlights the case in which the ethical issues are revealed and also the

ethical theories will be discussed. It is seen that in this case, the accused found his girlfriend
having sex with his girlfriend.
In this case, the accused also accepted the fault and is guilty not because he has
committed murder but to manslaughter. The defense counsel stated that Roy has taken this
step when he saw his girlfriend having sex with the other man. In this, the theories that will
be discussed are Utilitarianism, Deontology, Virtue, and Contract theories.
Utilitarianism theory
If the act which is taken expresses the utility then it is seen that it is best according to this
theory. This theory is stated by "Jermy Bentham" and according to the feeling, the actions of
a person are elaborated. By considering the utility it can be evaluated that it is related to the
well-being of the entities. Also, in this theory, the connection is made of ego which is a
section of consequentialism. In this theory, equality is also considered as one of the important
aspects. This theory also considers consequentialism in which proper evaluation is made of
the standards (Chadwick & O'Connor, 2015).

This case reflects that the act which is done gives emphasis on the utilities. Geecy Rebucas
was doing sex with his lover and this created the feeling of anger. The accused was
disappointed and also very sad at that moment. If there is no proper ethics in the relation it is
not possible to survive for long with each other. The negative effect is seen on the overall
relation of a person with each other. In anger or disappointment if a person is indulged in a
wrong action then it can spoil the relation of two people.
To kill any individual is considered as a crime and it is an unethical act in the eyes of law.
It is seen that if a person takes action to safeguard themselves then it is an act which is
considered as a feeling of pleasure (Yazdani & Murad, 2015). This case highlights states that
the accused was guilty of the manslaughter but he is not guilty of the murder done by him.
When Tabalbag murdered the person, it is seen that it is not possible to control the anger and
the unethical action taken. The disappointment in a person arises at that time when his
girlfriend is indulged in a sexual activity with his lover Amin Sthapit. On Utilitarianism
theory the Tabalbag has given focus and it is not unethical. In the work program, this theory
was used and also it helps to make good work program so that society can achieve betterment
in a proper way.
Deontology Theory
This theory assists to judge the overall morale of a person by emphasizing on the acts. It
emphasizes the policies and rules which are considered for an act. To judge a person there are
many ethics on which focus is given (Winkler & Duminy, 2016). The rules give focus on the
particular act. It is evaluated that there are many obligations which are considered as a
morality and can focus on both the aspect which are internal and external connections. There
are many morals related to an individual and also it is seen that it has a link with a universe
(Waymack,2016).

In the case study, the accused murdered the lover of his girlfriend. This action is known as
an unethical action and it can be imposed by the government on an individual (Rohr, 2017). If
a person conducts any activity which is unethical then they have to face the punishment and
penalties. The unethical problems are to kill a person and it is related to this theory. The
defender stated that Tabalbag conducts the act just because of disappointment and by not
having self-control. The incident happened because the person does not control the anger and
also the practices is not accepted according to this theory.
Virtue theory
This theory is connected with the virtue of mind in which the difference in a person is
concerned. The thinking power is connected with this theory and also the traits and the habits
of a person are the results (Austin, 2017). So, according to this scenario., it is seen that the
expression of a person focuses on this concept.
The case elaborates the behavior of an accused in which it is evaluated that he has a good
behavior towards the people. Ethics and values vary from person to person and also it shows
the positive results (Lucas, Van Wee & Maat, 2016). This case showcases the expression of
a person in which it is seen that the was angry by seeing the action of his girlfriend. The step
which is taken by the girl unethical. This can be ignored if she would have given a thought on
this before. The murder took place just because of the step which is taken by his girlfriend.
He is not able to control and also the outcome is of the feelings (Sosa, 2015)
Contract theory
To stay in the society, it is seen that an individual has to follow some specific rules and
concepts so that activities can be conducted in a proper manner and also environment can be
maintained. If rules and regulations are not abided by a person then the positive impact is not

possible to be achieved. They are only responsible for the punishment be if a person is
indulged in a wrong action then it can spoil the life (Allen & Barzel, 2016). There are various
theories in a contract theory which states that it is important to follow the rules and
regulations so that a person can live a happy and safe life. If rules are considered then it is
helpful to make the person together to work. Also, proper relations are maintained in the
society. It is important for an individual to make contact with other so that activities can be
conducted in a right direction (Koszegi, 2014).
According to this case, it is important for Tabalbag to consider the rules and regulations an
if he has not followed it then the punishment will be given. The peaceful environment can
only be made if a two or more-person come together by emphasizing the rules. The rules help
to maintain equality in the society which will enhance the thinking pattern of the people.
Murder done by Tabalbag is not ethically right and also it is done to safeguard themselves. If
a person is safeguarding themselves through nay act then it is permissible in the society. So,
Tabalbag will be responsible for the unethical act and has to suffer from the punishment
which will be imposed.
Conclusion
In this paper, there are ethical issues which are explained by focusing on the case study. It
can be seen that the factor of motivation changes from time to time and also vary from the
situation that takes place. The actions taken are dependent on the ethical theories and proper
evaluation is made in this paper. To indulge in the murder is not considered as a right act and
also this theory will help the researcher to find the best action. These theories are considered
so that proper evaluation can be made of the accused and his actions which have taken place.
