The human behaviour is a complex mix of emotions and driving factors which result in
people behaving in a certain way or another depending upon various internal and external
factors. For example, you could feel sad because your favourite team lost a game of basketball
which is an external factor driving human emotions or you could feel sad because of low self-
esteem which is an internal factor. Values refers to the fundamental ore beliefs that shape human
behaviour on a daily basis and they are quite instrumental in human life as the collection of
values starts at a young age when parents start to guide a child in a hope to make them separate
the right from the wrong. Major examples of human values are loyalty, compassion and kindness
which influence one’s attitude towards others in times of need (Das, 2018).
Apart from values, when it comes to enabling people to separate good from bad and
follow practices which are considered good and societally acceptable, ethics also plays an
important role. Consider an act which you consider heinous in nature and would never indulge in
such as theft, murder or rape for instance. Stop and wonder why people abstain from such
activities or consider them unacceptable and the answer is ethics. Ethics can be defined as the
personal set of guidelines and virtues which guide people towards behaviour and activities
considered by them as rational and well-intended (Braidotti, 2019).
When it comes to shaping the ethical foundation of a human being, morality also plays a
big role as they help develop the ways in which individual humans learn to live collectively as
well functioning members of human society (Sharma, 2021). Morality differs from one human
being to another and dictates how they feel about a particular issue for example you might
consider remain in faithful to your spouse as being a fundamental moral regarding marriage but
for me, it might be normal or not wrong. But the way societal boundaries and norms functions,
cheating on a spouse is considered as an unethical deed which is why morality results in a
practice that judges people who display adultery in their marriages as guilty of a wrongdoing and
it is considered a morally wrong and unethical practice (Chi-Kin Lee, 2020).
