Ethics in Information technology and business
Ethics require to makes a business successful. Ethics are used in decision-making in business as well.
Information Technology (IT) is playing a key role in the growth and success of an organization ( Matteo &
Floridi, 2009). In addition, IT-services are also requiring ethics to work properly. I learnt about freedom
of expression from week five. I had a good experience form week five and I had updated my knowledge
about the protection of freedom of expression in the United States. I also learnt about a few laws, which
are not protected different types of expressions.
According to (Andrijcic & Horowitz, 2016), Intellectual properties should be protected from cyber-
attacks and organizations must find out vulnerabilities based on the framework of cybersecurity. It is a
right to protect personal creation online, such as online content, speech at social media, and many
others. Therefore, users should have proper rights on their content legally, as they can register that
content as intellectual property of them (Goldmann, 2010).
I learnt from week six about intellectual property. It is necessary to develop such type of knowledge,
which is useful for my professional career in future. Information Technology requires ethics in business
as well as other processes (Jin, et al., 2007). I learnt about the different issues, which was associated
with the protection of IP, such as freedom of speech at social media and others.
I learnt about potential ethical issues faces by software manufacturers, such as project costs, software
quality, trade-offs between project schedules from week seven study. It is a responsibility of software
developer that they should provide high-quality software systems to their clients. They are responsible
for software defect, as they already tested that software and then provide to the client. Therefore, the
software must meet the needs of their customers. Quality is also a big factor in front of the developer.
They should follow ethics and provide quality of products to their customers (Wright, 2011).
According to (Reynolds, 2011), ethics are also necessary for IT, as most of the business is based on the
internet and software. As an IT professional, I must know about the ethics in IT to manage the different
critical situation at my workplace.
I learnt from week eight about the relationship between IT investment and productivity growth. In the
present era, most of the organization make technological changes in their business functions to improve
productivity, which is directly proportional to their growth (nap.edu, 2018). I also learnt about the role

of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics effects on the
workforce. It makes drastic changes in working culture. In addition, IT application makes a huge impact
on the health of employees. It makes them unhealthy, as it is a sitting job to develop software and
manage different functions from a single place. IT also makes an impact on the standard of living and
workers’ productivity. National Gross domestic product (GDP) affects form IT, as it increases the
productivity of different businesses.
