1.1. Describe and discuss the principles of ethical practice as they pertain to the
information technology and business sectors.
According to the author Cohen et al., (2016), Ethical code of conduct is a set of rules and
regulations as formulated by the top management authorities keeping in mind the nature of the
business undertakings. Ethics is a basic principle that maintains the positive organisational
structure. It is the ethics that regulates and maintains the ethical and legal preceding within the
business industry.
Some of the basic principles of ethical practice are Informed consent, there should be zero
presence of pressure on individuals to participate in the ethical activity, Respect individual
autonomy, and elimination of causing harm to other and towards their sentiments, Maintain
anonymity and confidentiality, Take particular care in research with vulnerable groups.
Speaking in terms of the IT (Information Technology), there are bulk of data in regard to the
company’s business operation and that of the confidential information which is limited to very
few hands. Possession of this data may lead to hampering of one specific business unit. This may
be caused with the intention to beat the rival competition or to gain an advantage over the rival
business firms. The use of the IT applications is being made in today’s generation for the ease of
maintenance and support like that of MBO (management by objectives). Besides, there are a
large number of advantages there are disadvantages and threats too. Such as the breach of the
security may lead to cause the well-being of the business firm (Parrott et al., 2014).
2.1. Demonstrate comprehension of basic problem solving
A training session should be conducted in order to make an individual employee aware in
regard to the importance of ethics. It is to be made aware that ethics is not about activity of a

single body; it is an overall contribution that are made by each of the individuals within an
organisation. However, there are several measures for dealing employee-related problems, and
top management authorities should always aim towards understanding the satisfaction level and
that of the needs of the employees for eliminating any conflict among the working peer groups.
Besides, the management department of the company should form a focus group in order
to monitor the activities that are going on within the office premises. Monitoring should be
carried out on a real-time basis. This will not only help to eliminate any uncertainties but will
also help in making the individual employee keep aware that their negative deeds will be noticed
and similar actions will be taken (Parker et al., 2017).
However, a joint session can be set up on a weekly basis in order to address the ongoing
issues if any. It is the faith of the employees that their superiors will play an important part in
overcoming any organisational related issues. When the top authority body advice and proceeds
their hand for help, the employees feel like they are been given priority for which the employee
becomes more loyal and dedicated towards the organisational goals.
