Reflective journal (Ethics in information technology)
With the help of this report, I would like to reflect my views on the topic that I have studied
in my academic period. The topic that fascinates me the most was “Ethics in information
technology”. This topic is the most exciting and most useful topic for all the students
indulged in the field of Information Technology. With the help of this topic, I was able to
analyse the different concepts and methods related to information technology. I likewise
evaluated how Ethics have a significant role in the functions related to information
technology. Initially, my lecturer taught me a sense of Ethics (Mason, 2017). Ethics refers to
specific rules and codes that are needed to be followed by all the individuals or group of
people indulged in their practice. It is the moral responsibility of every individual to follow
the ethics and to function ethically in the professional environment. With the help of this
topic, I was likewise able to identify the significance of morals, Virtue and vice. Morals are
the personal obligations of a person according to which they act in an organisation. Virtue
and vice are the habits of the individuals that allow that to do what is acceptable and what is
not. With the understanding of all of these terms, I was able to evaluate myself, and I likewise
examined my capabilities to act in an organisation.
Looking at a broader area, I analysed that ethical and moral policies will help all the leaders
of the organisation to satisfy all their major stakeholders. They will be able to meet the
requirements of the employees of the organisation and likewise will be able to attract several
consumers. Making use of ethical measures will also help the managers in enhancing their
goodwill in the market. With the help of this policy, the managers will be able to promote the
growth of their organisation and will be able to fulfil the key objectives of the organisation.
Aside to this information, the particular topic helped me in scrutinising the differentiation
between Ethics and Morals. Ethics are the group code of ethics while the morals work on an
individual level. Ethics are the principal responsibility of the organisation whereas morals are
the personal responsibility of an individuals or an employee of the organisation (Kernaghan,
2014).
With the study of the topic, I was able to examine that there are several trends is taking place
in the market that can lead the organisation to the unethical path and can increase risk like
situations for the organisation. The intricate work environment can promote the managers to
