Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment focuses on the ethical considerations necessary for a research proposal, particularly within the context of nursing research (NSG 4235). It emphasizes the importance of obtaining ethics review board approval before commencing research involving human subjects. Key ethical principles discussed include informed consent, the right to withdraw from the study, non-maleficence (avoiding harm to participants), and protecting the anonymity and confidentiality of participants' data. The assignment highlights the need for researchers to ensure that participants are fully aware of the research objectives and their rights, and that data management and publication processes uphold privacy and confidentiality. The research context involves interviewing individuals with experience of pressure ulcers to investigate their quality of life and experiences with healthcare services.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
The ethical considerations that would be included in the dissertation that would be written
are as follows:
The participants who are suffering from pressure ulcers or those who have been cured from
the pressure ulcers would be taken an interview to investigate about their quality of life and
their experience of care services received from healthcare professionals.
Firstly, the research would be only conducted after the ethics review board checks the
entire research proposal and allows the researchers to proceed with the research finding no
ethical and legal obligations. Secondly, the participants suffering from pressure ulcers or cured
from it would be included and would be told in details about the research project with the
research objectives and the research aims and consents should be taken from them. They should
have complete knowledge about what they are consenting to in the research project (Creswell et
al., 2017). Third, the individuals would be given complete freedom to withdraw themselves from
the research or refuse further participation of the research whenever they feel like and no one
would be forcing themselves. Fourth, non maleficence should be maintained where no
interventions would be taken that would cause any form of harm to the participants including
physical, mental as well as emotional and social (Thomas et al., 2017). Any form of physical
harm to the participants as well as psychological distress and discomfort of the participants
should be strictly avoided. Fifth, protecting the anonymity as well as confidentiality of the
research participants is another important ethical consideration that the researchers need to be
aware of (King et al., 2018). The different personal information that would be collected from the
patient along with the different information answered by the patient in the surveys or the
interviews should be kept completely confidential. Care should be taken while treating the

so that confidentiality and privacy is not breached (Roberts, 2015).
