Case 1.
As derailed in the first case, Florence has visited a case manager as she has been accused
to be oppressing her child and not properly taking care of her. Florence has also been accused
that she is not willing to work and arrange four squire meal for her child which is against the
ethical norm of the society. In this case my function as a friend will be different from that of a
case manager. As a friend first, I will be helping Florence by giving her emotional support as she
has been a widowed mother and she has nobody except her child. As a friend I will make her
understand the points that the welfare institution is identifying to bring up a child. I will
understand her backgrounds as she has never got love and affection from any of her family
members. Her disturbed childhood has made her strict in her way of rearing a girl child. This is
the main reason why she does not know how to tackle a child. I will support her to see the
differences of her method and that of the parents who are trained for proper training care of their
children. On the other hand, as a case manager I will see the matter more professionally
Among the strategies, I shall first gather information about my client so that I can cross
check the statements of my client. I need to implement a client centered approach therefore, I
will connect with the child care agency which has asked my client to have proper parents training
to take care of her child so that I can communicate the current situation of my client and her
inability to have such training I the regular region so that Florence can reach out other options.
Finally, I will be trying her to convince to visit psychiatrist so that she can overcome her fear to
work and get motivated to start a new happy life with the daughter (Lauderdale, 2018).
Among the skills important for a case manager I need to develop proper communication
skill so that I can convince Florence in her distress and convey my points to the child care
agency about the personal background of the mother without her child as well as inability to

subscribe for any type of training. Moreover, I need to develop decision making skills and I may
be biased with the situation of my client (Meichenbaum, 2017). This is the reason why I must
possess more ethical and organizational outlook so that I can support my client in one hand and
manage the situation legally on the other.
Case 2.
As a friend of Ruth, I would have first comfort her by supporting her mentally making
her feel safe for the hellish condition she has been living with her father. The psychological
trauma understands which she had undergone for more than six years was unthinkable and in the
situation in which Ruth was surviving would have led many women to commit suicide.
However, as a friend I will admire her courage and mental strength that she did not commit such
thing and visited a welfare agency. Being a friend, I will suggest her to report to the police about
such crime as there is no question of resolving with such a criminal. On the other hand, as a case
manager I will first understand that Ruth needs a friendly person so that she can effectively share
al her sufferings. This will be the most effective help from my part as my client will have trust on
me and help me to conduct detailed investigation about this matter.
Among the strategies, I will record my client’s statement so that I can produce in case her
father abuse or threaten her again. Next, I will be helping her to achieve wellness as well as
autonomy. I will provide care which will be safe, effective, timely and equitable. In this case
there is a little reference with drinking problem which Ruth has indulged and I will also take care
of that matter so that she can get proper assistance to leave such addiction in near future. I will
share the possible consequences related to her health about the abortion. Finally, I will ask her to
take help from the social welfare organization that can bring her out from her father and train her

to properly utilize own potentiality (Chinman et al., 2015). This type of agencies will arrange
free accommodation from her and give her all the necessary education to change her course of
life.
Among the skills in this case I will need communication skill, clinical skills and
knowledge about the impact of such inhuman atrocities on the physical health of women, cultural
sensitivity and advocacy. This care of Ruth specially asks for special accommodation for my
client so that she can reduce her drinking problem originated from physical and mental torture by
her father. For this reason, I need to increase my advocacy skill and convince he to visit more
efficient physicians so that they can give her better advice about her psychical condition.
Through effective communication skill, I will be accurately conveying information to my client
and build a positive relationship with her. Through the clinical skill, I will be assessing the
mental status of the client and plan or evaluate the patient care programs (Vourlekis, 2017).
