The following ethnographic interview will occur between me (interviewer) and a pregnant
woman Mrs. X.
Me: Hello, Mrs. X. welcome. Please have a seat.
Mrs. X: Hello, Mr. Z. Thank you for having me for the interview.
Me: How are you mam?
Mrs. X: I am fine sir. How are you?
Me: I am fine mam. Alright mam, I called you her for a short interview. Will it be fine if I ask
you few questions?
Mrs. X: Indeed Sir. You can proceed with your questions.
Me: Thank you Mrs. X. Then my first important question will be, how many has it been you are
pregnant? Also, I would like to know what is your idea regarding the pregnancy and birth?
Mrs. X: Sir, this is my third month of pregnancy. To me I think that it is the gift of god. During
the moment of pregnancy like now, it feels too good; it is a very positive feeling. Though, it
would be my first time to give birth to a baby, so I do not have a clear idea of how it feels.
Me: Indeed, that is a good attitude towards the pregnancy and birth. How did you feel when you
came to know that you are pregnant and secondly, during which week did you realized that you
are pregnant?
Mrs. X: It was on the seventh week when I started feeling uneasy, dizzy, started gaining weight
and was vomiting. It was then when I realized that I am pregnant. Truthfully, I was shocked and
anxious for a short moment at the time when I came to know that I am pregnant, since it was a

shock for me. But then I was too happy to know that I am going to be a mother. My husband was
also too happy to know this news and he was saying I am going to be a father. It was really a
very happy moment.
Me: Seems like the baby is going to have a happy and a healthy family. It seems that you are
moving towards the correct direction regarding the caring of the baby. Do you have any
questions which you would like to ask?
Mrs. X: I have a few questions, regarding how to take care of my baby. Could you give me few
suggestions?
Me: I can give you a few suggestions for taking care of your baby. In order to take proper care
and have a healthy growth of the baby, you are required to take few steps. For instance, you
should avoid few things in day to day life. Like if you smoke or drink then I would suggest you
to stop it immediately since it is a danger for the health of the baby. You should also avoid any
fast food which has high amount of fatty acids and eat healthy food and milk. Also, you should
visit a gynecologist twice every month for further suggestions.
Mrs. X: Thank you sir for all the suggestions. I will make sure to follow your suggestions and
make sure that my child grows in a healthy manner.
Me: Indeed, I am happy to help you. Thank you mam for your precious time. It was great talking
with you. I will make sure to implement this details into my work.
