1DISCUSSION HISTORY
The Western European Expansion or, the European expansion as it is more commonly
known, had started in the 15th century. Before the European expansion in the continent, it can
be said that The Age of Discovery had led to the various European countries had tried to
expand into the continent (Pirenne, 2015). This age was mainly started by the pioneering
actions of the Spanish and the Portuguese in the areas. It was the efforts of the explorers like
that of Christopher Columbus which ultimately led to the expansion of the Western
Europeans into the continent.
There are a number of reason why it was said that the Western European had
expanded instead of another society during the 15th century. The first main reason was the
demand for the gunpowder factories which would help the Europeans to use the market for
their benefits. In addition to this, the need for the industrialization of the area also led to the
expansion of the Western Europeans in the continent as compared to the other societies in the
region (Scamell, 2018).
There were a number of factors which served as the push factor for the Western
European expansion. The first of these is the economic advantages of the region. In addition
the suitable for the people of these areas also formed another reason for the Europeans
wanting to expand their areas. Thus, it can be said in this context that the Western Europeans
had a number of valid reasons for which they decided to expand their continents in those
areas.
