The role of the healthcare system in the contemporary society has always been a
challenging aspect to discuss on. The importance of the healthcare system and the provision of
giving better healthcare facilities to everyone has always been one of the most crucial factors for
a healthy and successful society (Daly et al. 2014). In this scenario, the role of the hospital
settings will be discussed ion how it has been displayed amidst the contemporary society and
people. The hospital setting is looked upon as a very interesting and challenging aspect in terms
of providing better healthcare settings to all the people in the society. The social workers have
often considered the hospital settings as a fundamental need for the well being of the common
people. Hospital setting is considered as a social enterprise and this has some serious things to do
with the welfare of the human beings in the most particular manners.
The role of the social workers is regarded as a very crucial factor in terms of doing good
to the people. In the hospital settings, many steps can be taken that are very good for the
betterment for the people. These things are definitely not easy to provide in the home settings.
Therefore, patients are needed to be taken care of in the hospital settings. In this kind of setting,
it will be very much evident that both the physical and mental support should be given to the
patients (Daly et al. 2014). Eventually, this will be effective for the improvement of their
conditions. The social workers can also be placed in the hospital settings for the needy people.
The social workers, being well qualified for the job, can be placed in the hospitals who would
look after all the issues regarding the welfare of these people (Kellett et al. 2016). Critics are of
the opinion that these social workers will be very much handy for the patients. They will be able
to provide all sorts of social, environmental, psychological, and financial and all types of other
supports since this will increase the effectiveness of these people (Russell and Simon 2014). The
patients are mainly very much down and emotionally broken when they are in the hospital care

settings. Sometimes they almost lose their intentions to live. This is where the social workers can
provide them with all the needed psychological support (Pomey et al. 2015). Therefore, they will
be secured and provided with all sorts of facilities under the hospital settings.
It is indeed very much acceptable as the experts have noted. The hospital settings will
allow the doctors and nurses to monitor the patients for all the 24 hours. They will be taken care
of in almost all the ways (Kellett et al. 2016). This is why no problems should occur when they
are under the complete care within the hospital care settings. The functions of the hospitals often
aim to bring the best efforts of the doctors and nurses. They need to be conscious and keep an
eye on their patients. As an example, it can be said that a patients might have grown a severe
problem in the middle of the night. This problem cannot be treated or taken care of at home
because of the lack of the expert people (Craig, Otani and Herrmann 2015). However, the
medical personnel will always be alert on the improving or deteriorating health conditions of the
patients (Pomey et al. 2015). They need to ensure that all the needed things would be provided to
them like the injections or medications. After providing the patients with all sorts of these things,
the doctors and nurses will look to the fact that all things are safe and secure.
Patient safety has always been the main purpose for the people involved in the hospital
settings. The hospitals also provide all community development and supporting the economy of
the region and the country as a whole. The medical institutions all over the country have been
rendered as the anchor institutions that ensure the better health of the common people. In order to
provide better healthcare in the countries, the hospital care settings should be improved in the
areas where poverty is considered as a very genuine problem (Craig, Otani and Herrmann 2015).
These hospitals have often played a very vital role in the cities and villages so the economic
developments can be there (Chong et al. 2015). Therefore, it is very evident for hospital setting

as a social enterprise to aim at a benchmark that can be achieved. It should also be mentioned
apart from ensuring the patient safety, these hospital settings also provide the opportunities for
employment in the country for over million people (Miller et al. 2016). The Governments have
been planning to create more healthcare jobs in different countries so the economic welfare can
be made possible as well as giving the patients with the proper opportunities to survive. This will
be highly effective for the countries from all the viewpoints.
Scientific innovation in the medical field is also something to be spoken of. The medical
science has progressed a lot in the recent years. This is why the healthcare industry has been
growing and the hospital setting is in the center of this growth. The implementation of the
scientific innovations in the medical science will be highly important to be noted (Miller et al.
2016). Therefore, the medical personnel also tend to get the chance to connect with the people of
the society as well. Sometimes the not-for-profit hospitals go on to address the various
socioeconomic issues (Chong et al. 2015). Amidst these problems, the hospital setting and their
employees always focus on their work to provide all sorts of facilities to the people. So,
community building has received the main attention for the people in hospital industry so they
can provide all the necessary equipments to the people in the society (Vedel et al. 2014). The
therapeutic needs of the people will also be mitigated by the hospitals as well. Similarly, the
social workers are appointed in the hospitals in some countries.
In the hospital settings, no type of discrimination is allowed. All the patients irrespective
of their class, creed, nationality, ethnicity and skin color will always get the best quality
treatment facilities in the hospital setting (Anhang Price et al. 2014). This is why critics believe
that the hospital setting is believed to be one of the social pillars. The development of public
health should always be the primary focus for the people involved in this matter. Critics have

opined that this sort of medical problem can arise in any family, not necessarily in the higher
income families (Vedel et al. 2014). Therefore, the not-for-profit hospital organizations should
provide all the means to the support the individuals of the lower income families. This is how
best treatment facilities in the hospital setting will include some offers or medical plans that are
approved by the government and many things (Rosengren and Lefton 2017). The Government
has engaged with these hospitals with the motto to serve the communities. The job training to the
medical personnel and workforce development will seriously cater to the overall improvement of
the facilities. This is how the medical organizations can contribute to both the economic
developments and betterments in the country. All these things should be kept in the mind while
the hospitals will provide for the betterment of the society in various ways.
Numerous socio-political issues will have to be mitigated within the healthcare system of
the countries. The impact of the healthcare policies on the national and international sphere
should be measured to understand the necessity of the hospital setting. Within the hospital
setting, people will need to address all the necessary social issues and take steps to solve them.
The funding of the hospital setting in different countries should be done properly so they do not
face any difficulties in the future (Rosengren and Lefton 2017). The welfare of the healthcare
professionals should also be looked after properly so the best ways can be found on how the best
actions can be taken. The hospital settings will take care of the patients since they are mostly
helpless people. Some problems might arise in this scenario but the medical practitioners will
always deal with them during all the 24 hours of a day (Robert et al. 2015). The efficiency of the
medical practitioners saves the lives of the critical patients all the time. Therefore, critics are
right in pointing out hospital setting as one of the most crucial social pillars.

On a concluding note, it must be conveyed that the hospital setting has always been
looked at one of the most important and challenging concepts within the society. The medical
practitioners and medical organizations have a huge responsibility of providing the best possible
efforts to cater to well being of the human beings. The medical practitioners have the
responsibility of dealing with the hospital setting. The hospital settings in the society will always
cater for the betterments in the society. The improvements will take place within the realms of
socio economic issues and the welfare of the human beings. This is how the hospital setting will
cater for the overall development of the society.
