Evaluate Project Leadership
In a project, the project manager is one who is responsible for the entire project. In other
term is the leader of the project team. Therefore, the project manager is doing a major role in the
project because everything is depending on him. In an organisation, a project which was
accomplished successfully on time is related to the introducing new product. The project was
completed on time because of effective leadership skill of project manager. An effective leader
possesses varieties of skills that help in guiding the team and member and carrying out the work
in a right direction to successfully complete it. In project management, there are different types
of activities which are needed to be completed on time.
A project has a specific time frame for starting and finishing and is expected to
accomplish an agreed set of targets with the deployment of resources both physical and human.
Hence, there are many types of challenges and barrier occurs while carrying out the project
management. Using effective leadership skill project manager can easily resolve all the issue and
challenges faced in the project (Chege, Wachira and Mwenda, 2015).
While working on a project leader has adopted democratic leadership style which one is
proven to be effective enough for directing team member and completing the project. Different
leadership skills which were adopted by project manager are as follows:
Motivation: Motivation is one of the critical factors for the success of any project. If employees
are not motivated toward accomplishing the goal then it leads to becoming tough to complete the
task on time. For completing the given project on time project manager has focused on
motivating its employees through appreciating and providing a reward for best performance.
Apart from this, the employee does not work hard are punished for their poor performance. It is
important for the project manager to understand the way it can motivate its team member. For
this purpose, it is not important to provide some reward but project manager can influence
through effective communication.
Team builder: For a strong and productive team it is important for all team member to work
together (Iqbal, Anwar and Haider 2015). The success of the cited project was because of
effective team building skills of employees. Here manager has delegate task to each employee
according to their skills and knowledge. Along with this helping each other in the complex task
is one of the appropriate method used by the project manager.

Conflict management skills: While carrying out the project many times conflict occur among
team members. In such a situation project manager has focused on listening view of both the
employees in make a proper decision without any bias in order to resolve the conflict (Bamiatzi,
Jones and Nikolopoulos, 2015). It is critically evaluated that management skill of leader was not
enough good due to which sometimes problem occur in managing work. Along with this due to
lack of management skills, it may happen that resources were not available due to the quality of
the project get slightly impacted. The democratic leadership style adopted by the manager was
appropriate as per the situation because all the employees are highly motivated toward the work
and skilled. Due to involving employees in decision making process has been proven beneficial
for the project. Apart from this, time management skill of project manager was also good as
proper scheduling work help in meeting the given deadline of the task which helps in avoiding
delay of provided task (Puni, Ofei and Okoe, 2014). To meeting the deadline of the project is
prove effective because it aids in avoiding an unnecessary cost that can occur due to delay in
activity. Hence, the ability to correctly and accurately generate a schedule and stick is one of the
great skill.
It is evaluated that communication is one of the important arsenals in any leadership
skillset. It is fact that most of the time of project manager is spend on communicating with
others. Therefore, it is essential for a project manager to communicate in an effective manner
with its employees so that no misunderstanding take place (Iqbal, Anwar and Haider, 2015).
While working on project multi-channel communication enable the manager to manage the
delivery and reception of information on time. While carrying out the project manager has used
its strong communication skill for encouraging and sharing the ideas with the team member who
are less vocal. Hence it leads to creating a culture of cooperation that is important for the cross
departmental dynamic of projects (Bamiatzi, Jones and Nikolopoulos, 2015). Decision making
skills of employees. Hence it is can be stated that democratic leadership style which was adopted
by project manager was suitable as because all the team members are involved in decision
making process which helps employees feeling valuable. Along with this different employee’s
opinion and views help in making an effective decision and provide a positive outcome. Along
with this, employees also feel self-motivated toward the work. However, there are some negative
aspects of adopting this leadership style by the manager. Through involving all the team
members in decision making process it consumes lots of time which affect the project. To put all

the ideas in place, need a great deal of understanding and patience (Chege, Wachira and
Mwenda, 2015). Sometimes it happens employees do not take responsibility for their work due
to which it becomes tough for a project manager to look out all their works. Hence through
evaluating project manager leadership style, it is identified that there are many skills of leader
that was appropriate and help in completing the entire project. However, some of the skills are
weak on which manager need to work so chances of a mistake get minimized. For a leader, it is
important to understand the way team member can influence the work and for this purpose, it is
important to possess different types of skills with respect to become an effective team leader.
