AI Summary
This assignment provides an Event-Driven Process Chain (EPC) diagram illustrating the vehicle rental process. The diagram details the steps from initial customer reservation through the rental agreement, vehicle allocation, and return. It covers various aspects like online, local branch, and call center reservations, vehicle availability, and agreement updates. The analysis also includes the use of XOR connectors and loops within the diagram, and highlights areas for improvement such as setting conditions for vehicle reservations and agreement renewals to optimize customer service. The assignment also includes an Enterprise Architecture Diagram and bibliography. This document is available on Desklib, a platform that provides students with past papers and solved assignments.

2EVENT DRIVEN PROCESS CHAIN DIAGRAM FOR VEHICLE RENTAL PROCESS
Description of Business: Within the car rental process, the customer reserves the car
through online, local branch or call center. The priority of all the methods are equal. The head
office staff records the details of the customer within the reservation system and the procedure of
rental agreement initiates.
After that the vehicle reservation initiates. The organization selects the vehicle based on
the customer request and availability of the vehicles. If the vehicle is available, the car is rented
to the customer as per agreement and if not then the car from next lot is reserved for customer.
There is two way through which the customer car collect the rented car. The first approach is that
the customer will collect the car from the local branch and the second is that the rented car will
be delivered to the customer to a specific address, the address must be provided by the customer.
The customer can drive the vehicle for a limited period of time, as per the information in
the agreement. If the car is jot returned within time, then the customer will be contacted and the
agreement will be updated. The customer can also contact organization and update agreement.
At the time of returning the vehicle, the customer have to take the car to a local branch
himself/herself. The car will be inspected by a staff or mechanic. If any fault is found then it will
be recorded. Cost of the payment will depend upon the identified fault.
The staff of the organization will generate the invoice for the rent. If the customer is one
of the members of Loyality Club then the payment will be decreased otherwise it remains same.
EPC Diagram Definition: The event driven process diagram within the study has been
used for presenting the business process through a flowchart. This flow chart can be used as a
resource planning and recognizing potential improvement in the process.

3EVENT DRIVEN PROCESS CHAIN DIAGRAM FOR VEHICLE RENTAL PROCESS
Analysis of EPC Diagram: No function after another function has been used within the
diagram. This conditional has been followed for the events as well. Each of the events within the
diagram only visualizes the conditions based on which the processes will be done. The diagram
starts with an event and ends with an event too. Within the event driven process chain diagram,
the XOR and connector has been used.
The event driven process has been generated on the basis of case study of renting the
vehicles to the consumers. First of all the customer reserve a vehicle. This is an event as this
serves as a condition that will initiate all the processes. This event triggers the vehicle request.
These requests can be made through local branch, call center or online. As only one of the way
the request can be made, that is why the XOR connector has been used. The customer details are
then recorded into the system. If the requested vehicle is not available, then the system will
allocate vehicle from next lot to the customer. If the vehicle is not returned on time then
customer is contacted and agreement is updated. The members of loyalty club gets discount at
final payment.
Some loops can be seen within the diagram. Taken as an example, the customer can
renew the agreement again and again. There is no restriction to the update of agreement. The
organization must put a condition to that, so that service can be provided to as much customers
as possible. Another thing that can be seen that the customer can reserve the vehicle regardless of
the conditions. This thing must be improved as in some situations, the delay in service can cause
losing a customer.
