1. Introduction:
I am achieving an academic degree on event management. While going through the
course I have made a self-evaluation on how to develop my personal career by taking this course
as my future study. I have gathered detailed overview what should be the role of an efficient
event organizer. In this very specific study, I have focused to analyze the importance of building
effective networks with the public. In addition, I have shared my own experience on how to deal
with the interviewer for being associated with a business organization.
2. Discussion:
2.1 Know your sector
How can networking helps you in becoming more commercially aware of your sector
In the field of event management, the interpersonal communication skill of an individual
makes a person commercially proficient (Eggins and Slade 2012). In order to be an efficient
event organizer the professional should have in-depth knowledge and understand on how to
develop an effective network with public. While arranging an event the individual should have
proper knowledge and experience for conducting the event successfully. The individual with the
help of an effective communication skill and competency level would convince the guests,
community leaders, sponsors and so on. People from different cultural backgrounds are involved
in a particular event (Jones and Jones 2014). Therefore, the role of a professional should
maintain effective communication with the co-workers. If one individual person is not
comfortable enough in maintaining verbal communication due to language barrier, the
professional can use non-verbal communication as well. While building an effective network

with public an individual has to gain managerial skill, decision-making skill, time management
skill and so on. As a result, the event would be conducted in a systematic way. People would not
have to face immense difficulties in providing their effective services amidst lots of pressure and
challenges (Seys et al. 2013).
Reflect on the networking experiences you have attended
However, after taking admission in event management coursework I have enhanced my
interpersonal skill as well as communication skill effectively. I have observed that an effective
interpersonal skill is highly important for maintaining interaction with the eminent guests in
order to convince them for attention event. In my personal experience, I have attended several
events among which one tourism event and one education event was most prominent. I have
attended a tourism event several months before. In this very specific event, I had to play the role
of event manager. Around 50 people worked under me in order to make the event successful.
As an event manager, I had to decide event venue, date, necessary facilities and benefits
that were provided to the guests. It was a wonderful learning experience for me. I have gathered
immense knowledge and experience while communicating with the eminent personalities invited
for this event. On the education event, I took a small part of event coordinator. I was instructed
to convince some eminent educationists for attending this event. I had to face challenges in order
to convince them about the importance of this event. After attending these two events I have
gained knowledge and experience from the eminent personalities.

In order to make event management as future profession an individual should gain
detailed knowledge about business management. Business management helps an individual in
acquiring detail view about making effective decision amidst work pressure (Lindenmayer,
Piggott and Wintle 2013). In addition, the individual can gather time management skill,
technological competency, managing effective strategies and so on. Business management also
helps an individual to learn leadership skill and quality. While organizing an event, the
executives may have to face immense challenges in conducting the entire program within proper
time (Dozier, Grunig and Grunig 2013). On the other hand, the executives face difficulties in
convincing guests as well. As a result, business management skill helps to cover up the entire
program very systematically.
Analysis of a professional qualification and explanation of the rationale
Event management is my primary coursework. Alongside the course of event
management, I have done two-certificate courses as well, which are very much suitable to my
coursework. I have made a course on leadership and decision-making skill as well as
communication skill. While interacting with the guests I have observed that I am facing immense
challenges on making effective decision under overburden. This very specific course helped me
immensely on how to take an effective decision for overcoming unnecessary crisis and
challenges. On the other hand, it is undeniable that in order to expand my career in the
international level I should concentrate on my linguistic more effectively. Linguistic skill helps
an individual to maintain proper communication between two persons (Hendrix, Hayes and
Kumar 2012). I have observed that I have to face difficulties in interacting with the eminent
personalities. As a result, my career may get affected due to this kind linguistic problem.

Plan to acquire these recognized professional qualifications and how it helps in clearing
interviews
After applying for various interviews, I have realized that only academic qualification is
not sufficient for drawing the attention of human resource managers of an organization. Apart
from academic qualification, an individual job applicant should do proper professional
coursework with the help of which the person can develop skill and competency. In addition,
those professional coursework adds additional value of an individual applicant. Therefore, I have
decided to complete two certificate course works with the help of which I can impress the
attention of HR managers of an organization. Being an employee leadership skill and decision-
making skill is highly significant. With the help of a proper decision-making skill, the employee
would be able to overcome sudden barriers. As a result, both the organization as well as the
employees would be equally benefitted. However, an effective communication skill would also
help to expand my future beyond going the regional area.
2.3 Let them know you
Description of the current job and the specification for the job
Recently I have applied for the post of an event coordinator where I would have to work
under event manager. My role in this every specific job would be coordinating various events in
different venues. I would have to deal with eminent personalities by convincing them for
attending events. At the same time, I would have to maintain cordial relationship with the
internal stakeholders without the participation of whom the entire program would not be
conducted successfully.
