1. Introduction:
Being a student of event management, I should have a detailed overview on how to
conduct an event successfully. The student of event management should have proper skill and
competency in building effective public relation. In this every specific study, I have evaluated
the importance of doing event management coursework that would help me immensely in
developing my entire career. By mentioning current job specifications, I have analyzed the
various ways of reaching professional goal and objectives.
2. Discussion:
2.1 Know your sector
 How can networking helps you in becoming more commercially aware of your sector
Building networks with public effectively helps in achieving the career goal more
smoothly than being introvert especially in the field of event management. The primary way on
how an event organizer would control the entire process of program is by building effective team
rapport and public relation. People from different cultural backgrounds are associated with an
event (Masterman 2014). The role of a professional is to maintain a cordial relationship with
both internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders by building effective networks. In
addition, in order to make the eminent personalities understand about the value of arranging
events an individual has to build cordial network with them. As a result, those personalities
automatically show their interest in attending the event. Effective communication skill is highly
required for conducting the entire program successfully. In addition, while interacting with the
people of different cultural as well as language backgrounds an efficient professional should

have multi-lingual flexibility (Moon et al. 2013). The person can grab both verbal as well as non-
verbal communication so that people of various language backgrounds do not hesitate in
communicating with the professionals. However, public relation skill and managerial skills are
the two major components based on which an entire event can be completed systematically.
 Reflect on the networking experiences you have attended
While evaluating my personal experience I can remember the two memorable events that
I have attended in my student life. Two years before, I was a part of book publishing event where
I played the role of event coordinator. The primary role of this very specific event was to launch
a novel written by a very promising young writer of this era. The primary role that I had to play
was convincing the eminent personalities associated with the domain of English literature. In
order to interact with those kinds of personality I should have a good communication skill.
Initially, I faced immense difficulties in interacting with these personals due to the lack of proper
confidence.
The second event was a sport event where I had to play the role of a host. While
anchoring the entire event I have known that I would have to enhance my voice modulation skill,
communication skill and time management skill more effectively. I was fumbling while
introducing the eminent guests. However, it was a good experience for me in hosting the entire
event. For both the two events, I got appreciation from my seniors due to my behavioral
approach, politeness and effective extrovert attitude in connecting with everyone.
2.2 Know your sector
How Business Management helps develop the skills for the desired career

The two overarching concept business management and event management are
inseparably related to each other. In order to conduct an event successfully one should have in-
depth idea about business management (Rojek 2014). This specific skill enables one to make
appropriate strategies and policies for conducting event. In addition, a person having skill and
interest in business management can take effective decision even after being over burdened. The
persons having knowledge in business management have good leadership skill and managerial
skill to control the entire event program (Mallen and Adams 2017). Moreover, they are possessed
with good technological competency as well.
Analysis of a professional qualification and explanation of the rationale
Apart from my primary coursework, I have done two certificate courses as well for
rendering an enhancement of my career. I have achieved a diploma in computer for being
accustomed with the advancement of technology. With the rhythmic progress of business, the
world is surrounded with advanced technology. Therefore, for becoming an efficient professional
for any organization the person having technological competency would get first preference. In
addition, I have made a course on developing my English language as well. After attending two
events, I got to know that my accent and dialect should be improved. Therefore, I have decided
to achieve a certificate course for enhancing my qualification. It is undeniable that a person
having good skill and competency in communication gets first preference from the
organizational managers. Therefore, in order to become a permanent employee I would have to
render flexibility on two additional skills as well. Due to this particular reason I have conducted
two additional courses along with my event management coursework.

Plan to acquire these recognized professional qualifications and how it helps in clearing
interviews
After facing several interviews, I got to know that only academic skill on a specific
subject is not sufficient enough for getting a job. Along with proper academic skill I should have
efficiency on some areas which would enhance my confidence and body language. Among those
skills, technological competency and communication skills are most prominent. If an individual
is not technologically aware the person would not operate computers properly. As a result, the
entire process of business may lose rhythmic flow. In this kind of situation, human resource
managers would not show their interest in hiring me. Similarly, communication skill enables one
to interact with different level of person effective regarding business issue (Jiang and Schmader
2014). If fail to communicate with the interviewer properly for highlighting my strengths and
efficiencies they would consider me as inefficient. Therefore, these two skills are very much
important for enhancing my career growth.
2.3 Let them know you
Description of the current job and the specification for the job
Currently I have applied for the post of public relation officer in a very reputed company
existing in multi-national countries. The role of an efficient public relation officer is to
communicate with the clients, giving them effective feedback regarding the progress of projects
and receiving necessary feedback from them with proper communication (Ziakas 2013). In order
to become an efficient public relation officer I have observed that effective communication and
interaction is highly important for building a proper relationship with the clients. As a result, my
additional certification courses would be very much beneficial for getting the job.

In order to describe and demonstrate my profile the best linkdin profile that would go
with the curriculum vitae includes good marks in the main coursework. I should have proper
efficiency in handling pressures as well. However, using star method I have evaluated three
interview questions I have faced at the interview session.
Q.1: How would you like to arrange an event?
S (Situation) I arranged a book publishing event two years before. Here I was coordinating
with 10 guests having a background from English literature.
T (Task) My task at this event was to convince the guests for attending events
A (Action) I tried to make proper interaction with them and to convince them why this
particular event leaves major significance for you to attend
R (Result) I got positive feedback from every one
Q.1: Do you think making effective communication is only factor for convincing guests
S (Situation) I arranged a book publishing event two years before. Here I was coordinating
with 10 guests having a background from English literature.
T (Task) My role was to convince the writers for attending this event.
A (Action) After conducting the entire session I got to know that only communication skill
is not the key factors for impressing the attention of those eminent personalities.

for clearing interviews. At the same time, I have gathered knowledge on how business
management skill helps an individual in conducting an event more effectively and
systematically.
