Introduction
This video provides a critical reflection on the competed team activity of event and venue
management for Brisbane Convention Centre. It is based on the tasks completed during
Assessment 3 and offers critical analysis of own performance and team interaction.
Do you belief that the team has performed well and successfully delivered desired outcomes in a
professional way?
After analysing the final report prepared on the event venue management for the Brisbane
convention centre, I have come to the conclusion that my team performed bets to their
capabilities and provided cohesive and accurate venue improvement proposal. Each of the team
member was determined on fulfilling their duties and being diligent.
I believe that the most effective element of the final proposal was the detailed SWOT
analysis which helped us identify practical ways of improving different areas of Brisbane
convention centre. SWOT analysis is a commonly used tool for analysing the internal
environment or capabilities of an organization (Hajizadeh, 2019).
In addition to this, I have evaluated that each of the team member behaved professionally
throughout the presentation of assessment and major conflict was not created because of
irresponsible behaviour by team members. There were no delays and any kind of argument was
also handled in a proficient manner.
How do you rate own contribution to the team?
I rate my own performance and contribution as 8 out of 10 after reviewing my own
outcomes and others behaviour during the proposal. This is because I was diligent and
responsible towards the tasks I was given. I also worked and collaborated with others to ensure
that the data and information I offer to the team is of high quality. This is true for Swot analysis
or the improvement section of the proposal.
I was dedicated and committed towards getting the best result as an individual student
and as a valuable member of the whole team. The concept of team synergy is very important for

delivering high quality result sin group settings because it ensures that the overall efforts of the
team are higher than the sum of individual effort or skill of team members (Andrews & Smits,
2019). I believe that my commitment and sincerity towards my work positively impacted team
synergy. This is because I made sure to collaborate with others to offer and receive expertise and
improve the final result of the team.
How did this situation make you feel emotionally and professionally?
On the emotional front, I believe that I have become more confident after working in a
team setting for completing 3. My teammates were considerate, supportive and collaborative
throughout the experience. Even after the end of this assessment and the entire course I will
maintain cordial relationship with each of my teammates. My social skills improved because of
the positive emotional environment that was created during our team gatherings which will
enrich my personality for future career. Social skills are needed by professionals in the current
age to get ahead competition (Afroze Eva & Sarker, 2019).
Professionally the team task helped me improve my research skills. This is because I was
able to get help from my teammates and was able to understand the most effective way of
applying CRAAP tool to find accurate resources and complete detailed investigation on a topic.
This is an important piece of knowledge which will support me in improving my performance
academically and professionally because research is an important skill for event management
professionals.

Effective leadership and guidance was a positive aspect of the team. Our team decided on
creating a democratic and supportive leadership environment. The concept of democratic
leadership involves creating egalitarian environment where the opinions of every group member
are valued and they are involved in the decision making process (Liggett, 2020). This became
our team strength because it helped each team member feel valued and ensured that innovative
ideas, skilful practices and original solutions can be pitched by any team member.
On the other hand the primary weakness of the team was ineffective time management
skills. Looking back I have realized that none of the team members were particularly effective in

time management. This did not result in heavy delays but created slow working environment. I
have now come to the conclusion that the efficiency of the team could have been enhanced
through better time management skills. Better time management would have saved time so that
final results can be reviewed and improved even further before submission giving us significant
advantage over other groups.
Faced with the situation in future what steps would you take for all involved?
If the situation of team which lacks good time management abilities arises in the future, I
will immediately propose using the initial days to carefully plan the timeline of the group and
also invest in applying time management tools. I have learned throughout my academic
experience that usage of time management tools such as Pomodaro technique and 4-D time
management tool significantly improves efficiency of any individual. I would offer the team my
knowledge of 4-d time management tool so that each team member is able to manage their
individual time effectively.
4-D time management tool includes 4 areas- Delete, Delegate, Defer, and Do which can
be applied in different scenarios to prioritize important tasks and complete them in time
(Sutharshini, Thevanes & Arulrajah, 2019). In addition to this I will also take inputs from team
members to create detailed timeline of every important activity with tool such as Gantt chart to
ensure that the assessment can be finished early and there is time to make final improvements.
This will ensure improvement in time management capabilities of team so that high quality
results are delivered.
How might the team work better together to ensure that the team delivers successful outcome for
a client? Relate three major considerations for team building you believe most important
for success..
Team working is complicated area because each different team requires different
approach to ensure that the group achieves their highest potential. Despite its complicated nature,
I believe that specific components of team building can be applied in any team to improve
overall performance quality of results irrespective of team size, purpose and members.
I have learned from my previous experience in team setting that communication is the
most important element of team building. Communication is needed to exchange information,
facilitate collaboration and increase synergy in a team (Johnson, 2018). In context of my team

for assessment 3 lower dependency on technology and high face to face communication would
have improved team working to deliver better results.
Another crucial element for team building is role identification. Defining clear roles and
responsibilities at the start would have increased cohesion in my team. Finally I believe that
delegation is the third most important aspect of building successful team. The ability of
individuals to delegate challenging and first-hand activities to others who have better expertise in
that area would have helped my team manage time more effectively, understand each others
strengths and weaknesses and deliver enhanced results.

Conclusion
From the above reflection it is concluded that team building requires communication,
determining clear roles and ability to delegate activities. In addition to this time management
skills are also important for delivering better results in a team settings because it helps review
and improve final outcome according to needs of the client.
