Opportunity:
The organization Everest is committed to provision excellent quality care services to
patients but has recently witnessed a 30% rise in the incidence rate of falls within the clinical
setting. Further, 58% of the total population within the organization Everest attributes to
immigrant patients that are elderly and the care professionals within the clinical setting are
committed to dispense care based on the elements of mutual trust, compassion and respect.
Upon conducting an internal strategic audit of Everest, it can be mentioned that
opportunity in terms of collaborating with other healthcare facilities is available which could
help to significantly reduce the incidence rate of falls. It should further be noted that
opportunity in terms of conducting new research is available which can help to generate
broad findings which could be applied to broader population. Further, as per Green and
Johnson (2015, p-8), it has been stated that adapting newer projects would include more
funding which would promote the installation of improved technology and infrastructure
within the health care setting that would ultimately alleviate the quality of the services
provided. In addition to this, it should also be noted that collaboration with other nursing
homes or healthcare organizations would allow more funding which would enable the
provision of systems such as more number of beds, alarm systems and medication charts
which would improve the quality of service provision (Rycroft-Malone et al., 2015, p-17).
The provision of medication chart would help to reduce the proportion of medication errors
and would help to promote patient safety. It is integral to note in this context, that
collaboration with other healthcare facilities and nursing homes would increase funding by
virtue of which more number of nurses and healthcare professionals could be recruited within
the healthcare facility which would subsequently help to acquire improved patient outcome as
the problem with respect to nurse and patient staffing would be efficiently managed
(Graban, 2018, p-77). On increasing the staffing proportion within the hospital, the existing

gap of skilled professionals required to manage the patient load would be bridged and
patients would be able to experience improved care outcome in terms of reduction of falls
and an alleviated quality of life (Bookey‐Bassett et al., 2017, p-74).
Collaboration with nursing schools would also help to obtain volunteers or efficient
nursing students as trainees who could help manage the excessive patient load and help to
acquire positive patient outcome and at the same time ensure reduction of prevalence or
incidence of falls. It is also worth noting, that collaboration with advanced training institutes
and nursing schools would also allow commencement of advanced training and research
programs. These training programs would help to improve the skills and expertise of the care
professionals such that patient safety is maximised and improved health outcome is acquired
(Bookey‐Bassett et al., 2017, p-72;73). Opportunity in terms of expansion is also available
by virtue of which Everest can expand and open its branches to suburb regions as well as
other rural and remote areas of Canada such that improved care outcome is secured and the
proportion of fall and related injuries is decreased.
