INTRODUCTION
An action of leading a group of people and making them feel valued is known as leadership
(Daniëls, Hondeghem and Dochy, 2019). This essay is going to discuss some reason by which Dr
Maxwell, great leader believes that everything rises and falls on leadership. Some factors that
will be discussed below include: decision making capabilities of leaders, motivation for which
people tend to strive hard and other capabilities that all leaders have. Further, this essay will
discuss some reason for which some people argued this statement and believe that everything
that rise and falls does not revolve around leadership.
MAIN BODY
Everything rise and falls on leadership
It is stated by Dr Maxwell, a great leader that everything rises and fall by leadership. They
said this after working for 35 years in leadership roles and they also stated that it is the hard
reality to accept this as people do not believe this truth. The reason of saying this statement is:
effectiveness of leadership as leader is the one who determines the limit on the potential for
organisation to grow. They have some basic and effective traits that make them able to standout
and help their company out in accomplishing goals. It is also stated that ultimate success of
people relies on their ability to influence others.
I also agree on this statement that everything rises and falls on leadership. In this regard, I
can say that companies cannot imagine themselves without an effective leader or effective
leadership styles. There are number of reason that prove this statement such as:
Motivation: It can also be said that as an employee and as an individual we all need
motivation to do some work. We all perform functions when we have some goals in life or we
want to achieve something. It may be financial or non-financial (Joplin, Greenbaum, Wallace
and Edwards, 2021). Employees perform functions within business for either earning money or
for developing their career and increasing self-esteem and leaders are the one who motivate
employees to get tasks done in an effective manner. They have an ability to influence others and
their ability to influence others is everything as they can help their employees out to grow. So, on
the basis of this, it can be said that leadership plays a vital role as it is the one around which
everything rises and falls. There are examples of some successful companies and the main reason

Effective leaders make better decisions: Leaders have number of skills and capabilities
that make them able in improving their performance. Leaders are known as an effective decision
makers and in this regard, I can say that people who can make better decision can make
themselves free from tension and frustration. There are number of factors that may affect our
performance and can change our ways of performing functions. When we are not able to take
decision then we might have to face some problems and sometimes poor decisions can make us
failure that lower our self-esteem and our confidence as well. Employees can improve their
performance and productivity only when they have proper guidance and have an ability to take
correct decision. It makes them feel refreshed and energetic at workplace and for improving
performance being healthy, fit and happy is important. So, on the basis of this, it can clearly be
said that everything rises as well as falls around leadership.
Empathy: A successful leader is the one who understand feelings and behaviours of others.
When leaders understand others’ behaviour then they are more likely to become successful and
people start believing on them. As an individual, we all need to communicate with others as we
cannot do everything lonely or individually (Maxwell, 2018). We need help of others and when
we have an ability to understand feelings of others then it improves our relations with others.
This improved relation makes us feel valued and make our work easier. Leaders often grow with
others and it is also stated that you are not a leader if you are alone. An effective leader is the one
to whom everyone follows. Passion, charisma and intelligence are some qualities that leaders
possess and these all qualities are required for becoming successful. When employees lack in
these qualities then they become fail so, on the basis of this, it can clearly be said that everything
rise and falls on leadership so, we all need to develop us as a leader and we have to be a leader
on the inside.

citizenry. Nelson Mandela led mostly through his behaviour not his position. There are number
of people who are billionaire but among them there are few people who are being remembered
by all and the main reason behind their remembrance is their behaviour and their ability to treat
others and lead others (Shields, 2020). When employees are being directed on the right path and

dedication and their ability to decrease procrastination. Procrastination is the main barrier in our
path as we often procrastinate our work on the next day and due to this, employees often miss
their deadline of completing tasks.

dissatisfaction with business. Employees of organisations who have an effective leader, do not
leave organisation for this reason. So, on the basis of this again, it can be said that everything
rises and falls on leadership is not true statement. IF it was true then everyone has focused on
themselves and improved themselves for becoming an effective leader and then everyone has on
a good position in the market (PINKRAH, 2020). Employees are the one who plays a vital role
as their dedication of working and accomplishing their motivation and goals lead companies to
become successful. So, on this basis, it can be said that everything rises and falls is the one who
comes within us such as; dedication, willingness to adapt changes, taking risks and
accomplishing goals by striving hard.
Overall, on the basis of above discussion and factors, I believe that everything rises and falls
on leadership. It is true because leaders possess all those skills that are required for becoming
successful. They have an ability to help others and make them able to grow and develop their
career as well. Dr Maxwell said that understanding leadership and actually leading are two
different activities and leading others is called leadership on which success and failure relies.
