Evidence-based practice in nursing
Evidence based practice (EBP) is an essential component of the BSN-RN as it helps
in demonstrating the importance of research and how it can help student nurses to practice
through proper investigation while providing care to a patient. It is possible to take references
into account while implementing evidence based practice into the clinical settings. The
references then can be combined with the knowledge of the healthcare professionals and thus
the healthcare becomes more effective (Horntvedt, Nordsteien, Fermann & Severinsson,
2018). Therefore, an evidence based practice always helps in facilitating a positive healthcare
outcome. While working as a professional nurse into the clinical settings I will also
implement EBP into my working procedures. In this purpose, I will acquire two different
ways. At first, I will try to research on how to improve the method of communication while
providing care as effective communication always helps in building a trustful relationship
between the patients and the healthcare professionals. In this regard, I will implement
evidence based practice and thus the quality of care will be improved. The second way I will
acquire is, I will try to encourage my fellow colleagues to implement evidence-based practice
and hence I will also educate other nurses regarding the necessity of EBP in clinical settings.
While planning this, various obstacles might challenge the procedure and one of them is
reluctance of the nurses to acquire a new change which might be time consuming. However, I
will continue to push the issue and it might take a long time to convince them but if I stay
persistent then changing the settings for betterment will be possible.
