INTRODUCTION
Evidence based practice that is depended on the scientific evidence for guidance and
decision making process. This method is not based on the traditional methods to solve issue with
in an organization. This report is analysing a process that is used to identify the problem related
to nursing practices. In this study the issue related to long working hours is considered and EBP
is used to evaluate the solve the issue of nursing practices. This is an important practice for
nursing operation to minimise the error in working of staff to deliver better quality service to
patients. The brief information about EBP system is explained in report and the problem of
nursing practice is considered on the this model to is analyse and resolve issue. Various steps of
EBP are ask, acquire, appraise, apply audit and dissemination. The issue of long working hour is
evaluated on this various aspects to provide effective solution for report.
MAIN BODY
The Evidence based practice is a procedure that is used by the organization to analysis
specific problem with in the nursing practice that are based on the real examples. In this practice
different steps are used by organization that are-
Ask- In this step needs of information is converted in specific question that can be used to to find
information that is needed to solve problem.
Acquire- At this stage the evidence or information is collected from different relevant resource
to answer the question related to problem that is faced by organization in nursing practices.
Appraise- the information and evidence which are collected from various resources are
considered and appraised in this step. This criteria to appraise this evidence and information is
reliability of information, validity and applicability of information or research.
Apply- In this stage the information and evidence collected from various resources is
implemented on the current problem in nursing practices and these suggestion or changes
suggested by research are synthesis on three component of EBP that are patient, family values
and preferences. The different aspects like availability, feasibility, cost potential, benefits and
disadvantages are also considered. The ideas provided to improve nursing practices are
supported with references.
Audit- In this procedure the result of changes implemented or suggested are evaluated to check
the performance in nursing practices.

Dissemination- The dissemination is the last stage of the Evidence based plan where the
findings are concluded of research and EBP for nursing practices.
Issue in Nursing Practices
This is the major problem that is faced by the employees who are working in the medical
sector. The health care services are most important part of society and for the emergency cases
employees have to perform over time work in medical sector organizations. To provide better
services in the health care sector huge number of employees are required but as per the current
situation the numberer of available employee in organizational are less the requirement.

Question- What is the reason of dissatisfaction of nursing and medical staff in the health care
organization?
Answer- The employees of organization are not satisfied with their job in the health care
organization because of their long working hours. Apart from job they need extra time for their
personal life and spent some time with their family. Apart from the personal issues theya re also
facing other problems that are related to their individual health concerns (Cervero-Liceras,
McKee & Legido-Quigley, 2015). The are facing major problems with their mental and physical
health that i9s affecting their performance in health care services and this is reducing the
satisfaction of patient who cam for treatment in organization. Top know their problem in detail it
is important to evaluate their problems. The problem in the health care sector is of shortage of
employees and this shortage of employees overloading the burden on current employees. This is
forcing the management to put extra load on employees to perform required work with
efficiency. By this extra work hour and work load is reducing the capacity and efficiency of
employees. Various problem caused by this long working hour are-
Physical Health- Long working hours are not good for a person and this can cause various
problem to individual that are related to their physical health. Long working hours can reduce the
concentration power of person and this can lead to lesser efficiency in work. Extra hours of work
will affect the sleeping habit of person and this will affect their working pattern. Less rest and
change in eating timing will reduce the physical efficiency of person. This is how the extra work
hours can affect the physical health of individual person.

Mental Health- To work efficiently in health care organization employees need to be fresh and
active on the work place to provide better services to people who came their to solver their
medical issues. If employees of organization are not mentally prepared or mentally health to
serve the patient then this can lead to wrong or less efficient treatment of patients (Manage
overtime, 2019). This will affect the performance of organization at delivery point of services
and it can also affect the patient in bad way. This is how the extra work hours make bad impact
of nursing employees in organization.
Population The are different people with i9n the organization are affected by this
problem. This problem of extra work hour is harming the employees,
management and patient and their families in different ways.
Management- The management of organization is not able to manage
the patient and employees. They are forcing the employees to perform
extra hours of work to manage the operations of organization but they
are getting negative response from both patients and employees.
Employees- Employees in the health care services are not satisfied
with this job and work hours (Humphries and et. al. 2015). This
dissatisfaction id leading to negative behaviour of employees in the
work place and that is affecting other employees also.
Patients- The employees of organization are not efficient at their
work cause of dis satisfaction that is generated form long working
hours. This lead to less satisfaction of patients while they are getting
treatment at heal care organization.
Intervention The best change organization i=can implement in the nursing practice
is- they can conduct recruitment to full fill the requirement which is
related to work force management in organization.
Comparison In the current situation organization is having less employees and this
is causing extra burden on employees and if organization recruits
more staff it will really help them to reduce workload on other
employees (Negative Impacts of Shiftwork and Long Work Hours,
2015). This will help the organization to reduce the pressure on

current employees.
Other method organization can use is- they can recruit temperory staff
in organization to solve this problem onh temparory basis and during
this time they will get enough time to think al;ternative for this
problem.
Outcomes The workload on employees will decrease and employees will get
enough rest and personal time.
Importance of PICO table- The PICO is an acronym of population, intervention, comparison and
outcomes. This table is useful to analyse the current situation of organization and take the
decision or select change in organization as per requirement. This will also provide comparison
and outcomes to judge the output of intervention that is raised by management.
Use of PICO- The PICO table is used to solve the problem of organization related to long work
hour. The PICO table is best suitable way to manage and solve problem. PICO table help the
management to analyse the problem and generate solution based on the research. That's why it is
used in EBP.

There are different resources are used to conduct the research work. There are different books,
journals and online and offline articles are used to collect proper data and information.

There are different ideas were collected from the research work but most suitable changes
are- by recruiting new staff, recruit temporary staff to get enough time to hire required talent.

clinical expertise of each employee, will improve current situation and this changes will provide

The change suggested is best for organization and it is feasible for organization cause there is
enough openings for new staff. The potential benefits of intervention are too high and this
changes will improve the performance of organization. There is no harm of this process..
Audit
The changes suggested by the EBP model are very good for performance of organization and this
will improve the service procedure of health care organization (Buchan, & Seccombe, 2018).
The there are minimum chances of error and loss in this provided intervention.
Dissemination
After the implementation of suggested methods helped the organization, employees and
employees to perform their task with higher performance. It also has improved the quality of
services in Health care services.
CONCLUSION
This report is concluding importance of evidence based practice in the nursing
department of health care organization. The problem related to long working hours is evaluated
and analysed in the report to find solution for it. To solve this problem in organization PICO
table has been used. By analysing the problem with high efficient different suggestions are
gathered from different articles and information sources.
