AI Summary
This report delves into evidence-based practices in nursing, emphasizing the importance of reliability and validity in research methodologies. It highlights the significance of these concepts in clinical settings, particularly in addressing adverse events such as falls, pressure ulcers, and malnutrition, which are prevalent in nursing homes and hospitals. The report discusses the impact of factors like gait problems, cognitive impairment, and medication on patient outcomes, referencing statistical data on fall-related injuries. It presents a PICO question focused on the influence of risk assessment on the rate of adverse events, underscoring the need for effective strategies to improve patient care and safety. The report emphasizes the role of healthcare providers in conducting thorough research to understand and mitigate potential risks associated with patient care and highlights the use of scientific methods to enhance the quality of care provided to patients.

1EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE
Evidence-based practice is defined as the problem-solving method that is practiced to
deliver best quality of health care integrated with the care data of the patient and the
appropriate evidence from the past studies based on the patient preferences and clinical
expertise. Evidence-based practice (EBP) is considered as the scientific decision-making
method that is used by the clinicians to implement best research-based idea and knowledge
and deliver best quality of care. In order to evaluate any health issue it is crucial for the
healthcare provider to research on the issue and gain a general idea of all the possible risk
factors and consequences that might affect the patient. There are two major concepts of
conducting a research or evidence-based practice namely reliability and validity (Grove, Gray
& Faan, 2019).
Reliability is considered as one of the crucial factor from the research that must be
applied to the nursing practice as it will determine if the adopted strategy used is consistent
and efficient in overcoming from any issue or health-related disease. Reliability measures the
consistency of the method and is grounded on different attributes of homogeneity, steadiness
and equivalence. Validity of research is defined as the amount to which the used strategy or
tool is accurate and reliable to use, which will assist the healthcare provider to understand if
the identified steps or procedures will be helpful in treating patient or not (Ellis, 2019).
Hence, the two concept form the research study that must be applied in the nursing practice is
reliability and validity that will help the healthcare provider to be sure and accurate in using
any strategies and treat a patient suffering from illness.
