Evidence based practice
Every healthcare professionals including nurses working in the clinical settings practice by
following evidence based guidelines in order to deliver an enhanced and high quality care.
Evidence based practice is the foundation of nursing practice as it directs the nurses in
facilitating the delivery of an enhanced care. Thus, every nurses working in clinical settings
practice by aligning with the evidence based guidelines in order to enhance the care utility,
improve patient’s health outcome, reduces morbidity and increase patient’s satisfaction
(Patelarou et al., 2017). Evidence based practice direct the nurses in making clinical decisions by
integrating their knowledge, skills, expertise and experience with the best available evidences
grounded on strong and scientific researches. While practicing in the clinical settings, nurses
often come across situation that demands for effective decision making based on their
knowledge, skills and expertise. With the help of evidence based practice, nurses are able to
make those decisions effectively and voluntarily leading to an enhanced practice and increasing
health outcome of the patients. Evidence based practice has a significant impact on patient’s
health as it provides the healthcare professionals with best available information which when
implemented will lead to an enhanced outcome. Every nurses possess adequate skill set and key
competencies required to practice in clinical settings and are able to understand a patient
comprehensively based on the subjective and objective data of the patients. They are able to
carry out the necessary assessments that directs the treatment process and guides them with the
best intervention approaches addressing the health concerns of the patients. Evidence based
practice, thus, promotes nursing practice and directs the health professionals in achieving an
improved health outcome of the patients (Saunders et al., 2019).
