The assignment presents a scenario involving a burn wound patient and the need for evidence-based care. The report emphasizes the importance of using credible databases like PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Library for research. It highlights the benefits of qualitative research, particularly for generalizing findings in burn wound care. The report also provides strategies for senior nurses to mentor new hires, including effective communication and the use of technology. The goal is to enhance the new nurse's understanding and application of EBP, ultimately improving patient outcomes. The report also references relevant articles on nursing research and education, and highlights the importance of utilizing resources to develop professional competence.

The scenario which has been provided revolves around a nursing professional who
has been recently deployed in the medical-surgical floor. A patient had been admitted to the
surgical ward with a burn wound in his hand after suffering from a gas explosion in his
household. He is survived with his wife and one daughter who is going to college. After the
initial assessment of the patient, a skin grafting surgery was recommended. Hence, after
signing of the consent, the surgery was conducted and it was successful. However, for full
recovery, the patient is required to be kept admitted to the hospital and get care from
experienced nursing professionals. Around this time, a new nurse without the experience has
been delegated to provide evidence-based care of appropriate nursing interventions to the
patient. The Capella University Library houses various educational journals which can be
used by the nurse to understand the procedure of incorporating evidence-based practice into
the care provided for the patient. To search appropriate journals encircling around burn
wound care of patients, it is better to search for qualitative research as there is a high chance
of generalising the research subjects and results. The reason for quantitative research is to
produce information and make understanding about the social world. Quantitative research is
utilized by social researchers, including correspondence specialists, to watch wonders or
events influencing people (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2017). The specific resources which
could be used to get an access to finding information about burn care wounds are the
researches which have conducted surveys with the help of statistical and data processing
methods. Medical journal databases like PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library,
PsychINFO and MedLine are one of the most top-rated journal databases which can help in
retrieving substantial amount of research articles from where the nurse may get a rough idea
about the evidence-based practices that have been incorporated into the healthcare delivery
system for the patient (Dang &Dearholt, 2017). In addition, there are also Governmental
Health Websites which can help in understanding the evidences of care that have been

previously implemented by nursing professionals in their care delivery mechanism. Real-life
stories from senior registered nurses can help the new nurses in learning and enhancing their
care delivery system. However, it is crucial for the senior nursing professional to
communicate the information in a clear and concise manner such that the graduate nurse feels
belonged in the working environment. One of the strategies that could be implemented by the
nursing professional is the art of asking questions (Ross, Tod & Clarke, 2015). It is with this
way that it is easier for the senior professional to assess their abilities to impart knowledge
and information and enhance the understanding of the nursing student. Another strategy that
could be implemented is the use of technology in the form of videos and audios to help the
student nurse to grasp the information faster (Forbes et al., 2016). It is with the inclusion of
this strategies and learning of evidence searching that the new nurse will be able to provide
the best quality care to the patient and enhance their performance.
