This report presents an evidence-based practice (EBP) analysis focusing on the application of resistance training for diabetes patients. The study begins by highlighting the rising global prevalence of diabetes and the importance of effective interventions, emphasizing the role of nurses in addressing this healthcare concern. A PICOT question is developed to guide a structured search strategy using databases like PubMed and CINAHL. The search strategy employs specific keywords, Boolean operators, and inclusion/exclusion criteria to identify relevant research articles. The report then analyzes four selected articles, discussing the impact of resistance training on neuromuscular, cardiovascular, and metabolic aspects of diabetes, particularly in older adults. The findings suggest that resistance training can improve blood sugar levels, muscle strength, and overall diabetes management, offering a potentially effective alternative or complement to pharmacological interventions. The report concludes by emphasizing the importance of physical activity, lifestyle improvements, and dietary control in managing diabetes and the beneficial effects of resistance training. The report is contributed by a student to be published on the website Desklib.
