I really like your post very much. You started by defining what collaboration is. Basically,
collaboration is the act of two or more people working together in a synchronized manner to
attain a common objective. You have gone further and explained the benefits of collaboration
that it speeds up process besides better output.
After defining and explaining what collaboration is, you have gone further to explain or describe
to us what your passion is. You really have a passion in setting up a cardiac clinic at your church.
This is in fact the dream of every healthcare profession. However, it is not possible to achieve
that single handedly. That is why you have gone ahead and explained that you are set to liaise
with different experts such as nurses and your close confidant who will lay out most of the
ground work. In conclusion, your post has taught me the importance of collaboration and I look
forward to incorporate the same.

In your post, you introduced the many things that can be done to develop partnerships at the
site one is working. However, you did not name those things. You could have explained or
named some of the things that can promote partnerships. However, there was one undesirable
explanation in your post about giving the principal and the teacher a token for allowing you to
conduct the project. Personally, I would describe this as corruption. Corruption is highly
discouraged in healthcare due to the negative consequences. In fact, it won’t lead to honest
collaboration. Most of the stakeholders will just work with you since they know they will get

paid. I would therefore advise that you talk to them, create that good rapport with them
without necessarily bribing them. If they can’t allow, then seek an alternative platform for the
project. At the end of the post however, you have explained the importance of collaboration
and urged all healthcare professionals to indulge in the same since the common objective is
ensure better health outcome in patients.

They include preventing diseases and disability, managing and eliminating signs and symptoms
and enhancing end of life and palliative care to cancer patients. Midway through your post, you
explained the significance of human errors that has contributed to more than 250,000 deaths in
the USA. However, you proposed that nurses have to scan the patient prior to medication, this
will in the long run, lower the rates of errors. In your post, you have come up with strategies to
reduce errors and be more effective. You have explained the benefits of evidence based
practice that each nurse should focus on. Furthermore, you have talked about how the student
attends the ventilator associated bundles. All nurses should therefore update themselves on
issues surrounding their areas of practice.

Evidence based practice is one of the core concepts in nursing. This involves utilizing
scientifically proven ideas and practices to provide care to the patients. According to studies,
scientific foundation which is evidence based can improve the outcome among patients beside
preventing and decreasing, managing and eliminating symptoms of certain infections.

As nurses, we should always strive to be updated on every new and improved evidenced based
practice since this is the only weapon for the nurses. In your post, you have also highlighted
that the decision made by a patient is quite important. Nurses should therefore respect the
decision of the patient. This is sometimes known as the ethical principle of autonomous. The
role of the nurse is only to advise but not to decide on behalf of the patient. This is mostly the
case in palliative care as stipulated by the National Institute of Nursing Research (NIH).

Your post generally talks about certain organizations that are at the Centre of decision making
and the role of nurses at their place of work. The organization in framework include the
California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC) which developed an evidence based kit
towards management of post-partum hemorrhage. You have explained how you moved to a
healthcare that had not incorporated the PPH evidence based practice. It took your initiative to
research on the same where you come up with a better solution. However, your efforts were
met with stiff opposition from private clinics that felt it was necessary to collect admitting labs
for obstetrical in patients. Three years later, the hospital in question is at that level you desired.
I have learnt that as a nurse, I can be posted to a hospital that is not up to standards. I should
not quit rather than liaise with organizations such as the CMQCC to come up with better and
effective solutions.

Your post is basically about policies in healthcare. You have defined policies as actions or
regulations that change the well-being of the population. After that, you have explained the

benefits of the policies. You said that the policy on wound care was of importance while you
were providing care that was however interrupted along the way. The policy in question was
quite controversial due to the words used. You explain how you had to halt a nursing
intervention as a result of the controversial policy. Such policies that are controversial in nature
contribute to human errors in nursing that have in the past one year contributed to more than
250,000 deaths. In conclusion, policies are good since they are beneficial to the stakeholders.
However, the stakeholders involved in formulating the policies should use clear and precise
words so that each one can easily understand.
