Introduction
Evidence based practice is the explicit, conscientious and judicious use of the available and best
practices in decision making for patients. It is the best combination of the external evidences
collected from the systematic research and the individual expertise clinical expertise of the health
care. Evidence based practices means to apply the best available evidences from the research to
achieve effectiveness in the decision making at health and social care. However, there is also
significant use of the skills, experience and training to achieve the effective outcomes with
alignment to the patient’s values and situations. However, there is also consideration of the social
support, financial constraints and practice contexts on the decisions which is also defined as the
clinical reasoning. Therefore, the above four elements defines the context of the evidence based
practices.

the available evidences to guide the practices and to lead the quality care. It helps to understand
the financial and patient value related constraints during the care. In health and social care, the
consideration of the evidence based practices helps to focus on the four elements: finance,
patient values, clinical expertise and information available from the research sources. Therefore,
it has significance to achieve quality care to the patients with proper standardization and
professionalism of the practices on the outcomes of the evidences.
Describe the purpose and the process of conducting evidence-based practice in health and social
care
Purposes
To ensure that the clinical exercise is based on the evidence available through researches
To ensures the patients can get benefits
To initiate the consultation and communication with patients for effectiveness of the care
or selection of the diagnostic tests
To establish a relationship with patients for more patient centric care
EBP practices are planned with the purpose to align the practices to the standard approaches and
evidences and ensure benefits to the patient. It also has purpose to engage the patients in the care
practices and to improve the care through more aligned care.
Process
Ask a compelling question
Review the literature sources
Appraise the evidences
Choice of most suitable evidence
Link expertise and client’s values with experience
Develop an action plan
Implement findings

Evaluate the results
The process is simple enough to engage the patients in the health care and social practices. For
example, the experts such as nursing staff and professionals can integrate the patients through the
compelling questions. They can ask for their financial constraints, major health issues and
possible medications they have used. On the basis of the most suitable evidences, the
professionals can improve the experience and can lead quality care to the patients. Through a
systematic action plan, findings can be implemented, monitored and controlled.
Explain which skills and qualities do you need to conduct a literature review
Skills and qualities
Reading and writing skills
Critical thinking
Communication
Time management
Analytical capabilities
Problem-solving skills
A good literature review conducting has significant use of the reading and writing skills. Rather
than to read the pages, a good reader can go beyond the pages to explore the topic whereas
professional and accurate writing is also required to preserve the meaning of the findings. Strong
and clearer communication on the topic with others and effective use of the time management
helps to reduce the complexities of the process. Also, analytical capabilities help to improve the
quality of the outcome and integrate the researcher within the context. Problem-solving skills
improve the contribution of the researcher toward the quality decision making on the gap among
the research.
Analyze your own skills and knowledge in being able to conduct a literature review
I am good in:
Communication
3
Document Page
Basic knowledge for the subject and context
Capable to filter the literature according to their values in evidence based research
Reading and writing capabilities
However-
Lack professionalism
Not too good analytical capabilities
To conduct the literature review, I have good communication skill which helps me to connect
with others and to collect the required data effectively. Also, the basic knowledge about the
subject helps me to improve the performance. Personal capabilities to evaluate the sources and to
ensure their usability in literature review helps to filter out the sources. Besides it, I am a good
note keeper and annotation maker to ensure nothing important goes out the scope. However,
professionalism to present the data and to develop thematic analysis need work.
Evaluate which skills are required to conduct ethical research which could have a positive
influence on practice and provision in health and social care

Caring skills
The above are some of the major skills and capabilities required to conduct the ethical research.
For example, it is good to integrate the findings with each other to lead more robust outcome
whereas the researcher is honest to present the data and results without breaking the rules such as
plagiarism and avoidance of the personal experiences and logics.
Under objectivity skills, the researcher is not required to the bias for data interpretation, peer
reviews and data analysis.
Carefulness is required to avoid the errors and mistakes whereas openness to share the outcomes
and data analysis with others is also required.
Plagiarism is also the part of the intellectual property of the individual and individual’s original
work must be protected.
Also, application of the legal and governmental practices on the work is required to consider.

Conduct a literature review using a range of sources related to the research topic
Topic: Influence of communication skills and approaches on the outcome of service users in
health and social care
Communication is essential part of the business functions to share the data, support the
performance and quality and to enhance the teamwork with high integration of the potential
resources. Communication empowers effective heath and social care practices with contribution
of the patients for the intended care.
According to Moss (2017), communication skill positively impacts the outcome of the service
users through development of the working relationship and sharing of the information clearly.
According to the author, it also influences for the collaborative working and data sharing and
provides emotional supports with the co-workers.
However, the communication can take several forms: verbal, non-verbal and other forms of the
communication such as expressions and body language. It also impacts the efficiency of the
practices at workplace.
According to Ham et al. (2012), digital communication is impacting the performance and quality
because it is significant to prevent the delays and erroneous practices.
Also, communication helps to engage the health care professionals in evidence based practices
and so that the outcomes are more aligned to the patient requirements and expectations.
According to Watson et al. (2012), communication also influence the service users for the
outcome as they can effectively establish the emotional relationship with patients and can share
the values easily to support faster and quality delivery.
According to Matusitz and Spear (2014), the nursing staff can use the communication to
understand the patients whereas the patients are also flexible and effective to share the values
and beliefs with professionals to achieve the quality in care.

The service users have influence of communication during role delegation, responsibility
handling and internal management so that overall performance is powered up to meet the
standards.
According to Schiavo (2013), service users have values of communication to develop relations
with professionals and patients and it supports development of quality outcomes.
Explain your results of the literature review
Communication impacts positively for:
To develop work relationship
Clearer sharing of the information
Easy and effective data sharing to support faster performance and higher quality
Teamwork and collaboration
However, it also needs:
Capabilities to understand and manage the various communication channels
Proper use of sources in communication to ensure accuracy and reliability
The literature review has explored the several outcomes. For example, it is determined that
communication has influence on the service users. For instance, It promotes them toward the
development of the work relationship so that the overall quality and performance in health and
social care can be improved. The individual can be aligned to the roles and responsibilities and
so that the efficiency of the work can be improved. The individual can share the clear
information for the operations and it can be used to establish the human relations at workplace.
The service users and patients can be integrated effectively into decision making process.
However, the informal communication can damage the effective execution of the goals. For
example, the capabilities of the communication channels are not achieved till they are not used
properly whereas the sources of the literature and information must be accurate and reliable in
the communication to ensure effective execution of the functions.

Summarize current knowledge about communication
It is required to foster the effective data sharing and teamwork among the professionals.
It is essential to integrate the service users into practices and align the care practices to their
requirements.
Communication improves work culture and reduces the internal conflicts regarding role and
responsibility management.
Health and social care can use:
Verbal
Non-verbal
Other methods (facial expressions and body language)
The verbal communication modes are the direct interaction with each other, meeting, seminar
and other approaches in which the senior staff shares the information directly through verbal
mode. However, it is effective to share the information quickly and easily but it also can impact
for reliability and accuracy. Sometime, it also becomes difficult to present the data in
interconnected form to achieve clearer structure. The non-verbal such as letters and notice are
used to ensure that individual has effective tracking of the orders and ideas and it can be further
used for the references. It is effective to integrate the resources into practices but it might be time
consuming to share with individual. Other methods such as facial expressions and body language
are good enough to guide but they cannot be used as standard approach to share the information.
Evaluate how reliable and valid is your literature review
