Introduction
In the case of evidence based practice communication plays an important role. A structured
process that is associated with understanding the various factors that are related to
communication related evidence based practices. This study is considered on the backdrop of the
various practices associated with Notaro Care Homes in the United Kingdom. The importance of
evidence-based technique is associated with ensuring that on encountering patients and
understanding their needs these questions are formulated and they are based on diagnosis,
therapy and aetiology. The appraisal of the collected evidence is filtered and appraisal is done
on addressing of all the questions, the validity of the process adopted for research. The purpose
of evidence-based practice is to combine the best possible techniques that are associated with
effective clinical practices and communication of the same to all relevant parties.

Communication skills in practice
The role of communication skills in conducting EBP in healthcare is that it is used in order to
ensure that healthcare practices are based on sound evidence and communicating the same at
every stage. The use of EBP is associated with ensuring that a more consistent recommendation
process can be continued in the case of patient treatment, as there will be sound scientific
evidence to back it up (Shipman, 2010). The communication process is critical in evidence-
based practice. There is expectation of the patient because of effective care being provided that is
based on available evidence and with the help of communication techniques there is involvement
of the team in every step. The evidence-based practice is a confluence of clinical expertise,
external evidence and the expectations of the patients based on their values. The communication
between these three makes evidence based medicine happen that is closely associated with
evidence based practices.

Theatrical based medicine- a communication technique
This communication technique used theatre techniques of communication in order to provide
tools to healthcare team regarding the ways to develop a relationship with the patient and the
patient party. In order to ensure that there is excellent verbal as well as non- verbal
communication there is much stress given on posture body language as well. Voice tone and
volume also goes a long way in the process (Hammer et al., 2011). It uses case history and
interpretive skills to analyse the process. In the opinion of Perry et al . (2011), artistic

finally evaluating the outcome. The entire process involves the involvement of the

The literature review is associated with highlighting the various techniques that are used in the

There is the need to ensure that there is flow of knowledge regarding the ailment from the
healthcare professional to the patient , so that the patient can make more informed choices and
that is possible only if there is communication done. The literature review has highlighted the
fact that with the help of effective communication and the use of new age communication
techniques like theatre based communication it is possible to ensure that there is a lot of
accountability and transparency in the system.

incorporating the different clinical expertise of the individual with a range of the available
clinical evidence that is available from the systematic research. One of the significant importance
of EBP or the Evidence based practice is, this aims in providing the most effective of the patient
care. In the words of Hall and Rousel, (2016), this enables the patient in receiving the most
useful and effective care in the industry. The different concepts of EBP help in providing nurses
with the different scientific means of research for making the well founded decisions.
EBP also plays an important role in evaluating the research, such that understanding of the
effectiveness and the risks of a proper diagnostic research or test becomes easier. The application
of EBP helps the nurses in including the patients in the care plan thus devised and developed.
The EBP also helps the patients in having a proper proactive role in the healthcare settings as this
helps the patients as well as the medical practitioners in raising concerns, sharing their own
values and preferences in the process as well as in making suggestions as to how to proceed with
the care. The evidence based practice actually helps both the nurses as well as the patients to take
part in the process and hence introduce new changes in the process as and when needed.
As opined by Schmidt and Brown (2017) EBP brings with it much better outcomes, that can
enhance the sources of the different health and the social care set ups. The EBPs actually helps in
providing more of the updated, quick and effective practices, hence the costs of the resources can

that is only possible if there is a continuous flow of communication in a structured manner. The
literature review has highlighted the fact that with the help of effective communication and the

evidence based management. One of the greatest importance’s of this research is that, it has
proved to be effective enough in identifying the different ways in which communication has been
affecting the EBPS in the health care setting . The recent research has also provided a detailed
idea about the communication as well as the recent technologies that have proved to be effective
in providing better services to the industry. With the help of the research, it has been identified
that communication if used effectively can ensure that better services are being provided to the
customers. In the words of Schmidt and Brown (2017), effective communication forms the key
to success in case of the service industry and these can be understood very well from the research
that have been conducted above. Regarding the positive impacts- the different techniques and

methods of communication with the help of which better service can be provided to the patients
can be understood very well from the above research. The implications of these communication
techniques have actually helped the care givers to understand the needs of the customers
effectively and hence provide proper services to the patients.
Analyze how personal research process has an impact on own learning and practice in the
workplace
The literature review and the research process that have been conducted in the above sections,
have proved to be impactful the personal research process also have equal impact on the learning
and practice particularly in the work place. The personal research process actually helps in
enhancing an individual’s perceptions as well as knowledge towards own learning in the
workplaces. Since the process gives complete freedom to the researcher as to from where they
can collect information and data, hence the researcher actually have a huge variety of options to
choose from (Dobson and Dobson, 2018). The researcher can learn about the topic from the
recent incidents in the workplace and hence can also develop his ideas accordingly. However
there are also some disadvantages that are associated with it. Since the level and the content of
learning depend solely on the researcher, hence questions like what he will learn and how will he
interpret the things always rises. The learning completely depends on the own perceptions of the
learner that can be right or may be wrong at times (O'Hare, 2015).

I have often adopted the evidence based learning techniques as I have estimated that this
enhances the learning effectively. I have noted that evidence based learning practice and
techniques actually make the learning process a much effective one. Since I have recently joined
the Notaro Care home as a nurse, I have limited practical idea about dealing with the patients.
With the help of these learning techniques and processes, I have estimated that particularly the
patients of dementia prefer a much casual approach in communication as compared to the formal
ones. I have estimated that this even enhances the delivery of the services and helps in catering
the care needs of all of the individuals.
