ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
1. Leadership Styles
There are various leadership styles including Democratic, Autocratic, Strategic and
Transactional leadership style. However, in case of EWS, Democratic leadership will be the best
leadership style. EWS leadership team has focused on learning related to alternative materials
and environment with safety of employees utilizing those products in manufacturing process. As
commented by Kerzner (2017), democratic leadership style has focused on involving employees
in decision making system of the company. It has been the most effective style as it allows low
level employee to provide their thoughts and views in decision making system. This creates a
transparency among employees related to the decision making system in the organization. The
use of this type of leadership styles have been helping in maintaining a keen approach in the
decency of the employees in the organization. As commented by Meredith, Mantel Jr & Shafer
(2017), the employee engagement in the company will get increased in a period of time.
Therefore, this form of leadership style will be beneficial for EWS to expand its services in the
market. The leadership team need to examine about other companies which have done similar
type of projects earlier.
2. Tools and techniques in project management
As commented by Fleming & Koppelman (2016), two of the most commonly used
project management tools are PERT chart and Gantt chart. In this case, Gantt chart will be
beneficial to use in the EWS. Gantt chart is utilized for showing calendar time task assignments
in days, months and weeks. This tool utilizes graphic representation for showing start, elapsed
and completion timed of each task in the project. Gantt charts have been ideal for tracking

progress of the project. All the activities are list up in the Gantt chart that shows clear idea of
starting and finishing of each task in the project.
The two major techniques in project management are agile and waterfall techniques. In
case of EWS, Agile technique is suitable for the project. Agile technique help in breaking total
projects into small tasks. This technique helps customers to provide opportunities to look at
product and make necessary decision and changes. This helps in gaining customer satisfaction
with good quality project. On other hand, waterfall model does not allow customers to make
changes in the middle of the project. The testing is done at the end of the project. Therefore,
agile methodology is best for EWS project.
3. Communication in project management
As mentioned by Heagney (2016), Communication has been an important part of the
project management. It starts with communicating a proper planning report of the project. A
project manager need to communicate all plans that enables for high level overview of
communications with stakeholders. This risk can be mitigated by planning the communications
and the third parties must be taken into account. This enables project manager to manger the
project team in a proper way. Face to face communication and meeting have been best practices
in communicating with team members. Meeting will be best for EWS projects as manager would
be able to communicate with every employees in the project. As mentioned by Harrison & Lock
(2017), the leadership team is interested in learning new things in the project that will be possible
with the help of proper communication. EWS Company has been focusing on expanding their
services in the market. Therefore, sessional meeting might help in communicating all plans
properly with employees of the company. Communication plan need to be prepared in a proper
manner in order to maintain a keen approach in development of project in the EWS. The EWS

Communication: Communication is the key to the development of the self-managed teams.
By communicating and getting the feedback is important. The tools that make collaboration
and communication faster should be used.

abide by these then they are more nearer in reaching their goals. The software that consist of
the dashboards that are real –time can help to track the metrics.
Leverage the success: The team members must leverage the success for the goodness of the
project (Binder 2016). It has been the most effective style as it allows low level employee to
provide their thoughts and views in decision making system.
Present outcomes: The team must present their outcomes daily. The team must promote the
loops that are feedback with the teams that are present in the organization which enforces
accountability.
6. Reasons for selecting these approaches
EWS has started its business in 2006 in order to provide environment friendly wastewater
management system for treating sewage effluent by advanced secondary levels. The Company
has been looking for enhancing their services in the market. The project manager need to manage
all tasks in a formal manner. The company has been limited to small minded approach.

involved in growing and expanding process to take on new markets. As mentioned by Kerzner
(2019), The reasons behind selecting these approaches are enhancing market of EWS. This
approach has helped in gaining new supply chains in the market. EWS have been looking for
environmental factors including pollutants, safety and manufacturing materials. The shipping
system components have been using oil and gas, releasing pollutants into environment and
management include consultants on utilizing alternative fuels and procedures for transport and
shipping processes.
7. Mitigating challenges in project team
The steps the project manager should take to mitigate the challenges that grow in the team are:
Requirements should be clarified: The requirements should be clarified by the team leader to
the members to avoid any challenges in a project. Agile method makes sure that the clients
and the users are engaged in the work and it also makes sure that the deliverable is what is
wanted. The risk can be mitigated by holding workshop, interviewing the stakeholders,
giving a brief of the project.
Risk should be spread: The risk should be spread by the team manager among the team
members so that they have a detailed report about the risk. This can be solved by quantifying
the risk. The risk can be mitigated by managing the risks jointly with contractors and with
stakeholders to spread the actions (Lock, 2017).
Communication and listening: The communication and listening is very important is a
project. The team manager should communicate with hi team members and listen to the
views of the team members to avoid any type of miscommunication between them. This risk

account. The external and the environmental groups have a great impact on the project. So

team members. This risk in the project can be mitigated by breaking own the project into
stages which includes time. The scope of the project must be properly understood by the
