The industry of healthcare faces rapid changes, in order to keep pace with the
competitive environment. The organizational leaders must readily accept and adapt the
changing environment, keeping into consideration the pros and cons. At times, less efficient
leaders face difficulties to accept the challenges and cope up with the environment.
Transformational leaders have the capability of making quick decisions and take immediate
actions. However, those situations are very challenging (Yarbrough Landry, Stowe and
Haefner, 2012). The aim of the assignment is to identify my strengths and weaknesses among
the competencies of health care and the opportunities for future development.
It is better to identify my strengths first, before going into weaknesses. A good leader
can identify his/her beliefs and values, which helps in decision making procedures.
Identification of my own values as well as beliefs has always helped in making quick
decisions and leading the team with utmost satisfaction (Stoller, 2013). This has also helped
in gaining popularity and earning faith and trust. I have always admitted my mistakes and
weaknesses, which helped me, tackle my emotions. Effective leaders always motivate their
staff members for maintaining a lively work environment. Developing a vision has always
helped me in setting the goals and objectives of the organization. Moreover, in tough
situations, I will listen to my employees first and encourage them to voice their opinions and
views (Beckershospitalreview.com. 2017).
I have always appreciated feedbacks and criticisms with an open mind. Efficient
leaders have great listening and communicating skills, which help them succeed.
Communicating openly with the employees has helped in understanding the organizational
mistakes and faults, their expectations and behavior. Moreover, leaders have the power of
inspiring their followers and supporters. Therefore, these are my strengths, which will enable
me to become an effective leader. However, with strengths come weaknesses and I am going

to discuss the areas I need to improve, in order to engage in further development (Ache.org.
2017).
At times, I find it difficult to understand the complex issues and give proper solution
to it. It makes me nervous and becomes difficult to generate informal powers. Moreover,
framing issues from several perspectives affects the decision making powers of a leader. An
efficient leader is able to drive results and monitor employee performance, to ensure the
company’s success. Many a times, I lack motivation and energy, which results in poor
organizational skills. Such poor skills may hamper any organization’s growth and progress.
Therefore, I need to improve these areas in order to become an efficient and transformational
leader (Beckershospitalreview.com. 2017).
To conclude, a leader must be aware of his/her areas of improvements, it will prove
advantageous for his/her personality development. A leader must encourage creativity, which
will foster the working environment and encourage innovative measures for solving any
problem. Furthermore, inspirational leaders have always encouraged the employees, which
work as an energizer to any company’s development. A good and effective leader is the
reflection of a successful organization. If a person doesn’t believe in his/her own self and
have less confidence, then he/she can never become a successful leader. Therefore, an
effective and good leader requires all these qualities and skills to succeed; and it is actually
very exciting in taking part in this wonderful journey.
