CHAPTER 1
Where are you in your family?
Commencing with my introduction, I was born in the year 1970 as the only child of Mr
Ronald Julien and Mrs. Sybil Llanos. I was the only son among all children of my parents. My
mother already had seven children from her previous relationship in which two of them were
died. On the other hand, my father also had a daughter from his previous relationship.
But when my parents got married, we were two children; me and my sister. Now; I am
his only son and the last child of my parents among my mother's five children as well.
Number of siblings
I have 4 siblings in total; hence we are 5 brother sisters in the family. Thus, presently, I
am only son and the last of both parents including my mother's five 5 children.

Under this reflective statement, I am writing about my past working experience as well as
appropriate ways which are carried out by me to enhance my level of capabilities and skill. Here,
as per my work and inherent skill, it has been assessed that I am suitably positioned as an

different employees work under me. These are the officials who work below my rank. They are;
five sergeants, four corporals and forty constables.

writing memos, conducting counselling sessions in order to boost up the morale of officers and

However, I work under the Estate Assistant Superintendent of Police and the Estate
Superintendent of Police. One of my major strengths is that I am certified with the firearm
instructor. It is my major strength and due to this only, I am responsible for giving training to
officers about the basic firearm safety and proper use of firearm as well. It includes various areas
of precautions as well as appropriate maintenance of shotguns by Well Services Petroleum
Company Limited group of companies (Blanket Security Ltd).
While working within this organization, I have found that at the time of any type of leave
of my senior authority and team member, I am truly delegated to all their assigned duties as well.
I am required to act on behalf of their position and try to complete their tasks. At the time, when
my immediate supervisor, the Estate A.S.P is scheduled to proceed on vacation leave, I am
automatically designated as acting in-charge on his behalf but after it was once announced by the
Estate Superintendent as well. When this situation occurs, I have to act like acting Estate A.S.P.
Moreover, I become equally responsible for maintaining their job roles and responsibilities in a
more effective way. It boosts my confidence level and makes me able to manage various
activities with respect to A.S.P. It gives me a full quota to treat myself as a senior member of the
team and maintain my seniority with the same.
Estate A.S.P. is responsible for managing the time sheets, rosters as well as company
benefits such as personal leave, sick leave and vacation leaves etc. It is also determined as an
administrative issue where a person can able to maintain the whole working criteria in relation to
administration. My acting role emerged in front of me as a challenge that overwhelms me at
time; when I am able to delegate responsibilities to people on different pace. It provides me
knowledge and enhances my leading capability. Through this, I am equipped to maintain and
lead my team members in an effective way.
Here, I found myself as a charismatic leader with emotional intelligence attributes. I am
quite self-confident through which I succeed in my acting role. With the level of self-control, this
three weeks’ vacation of my supervisor is feasible and effective enough for me to develop
various and equip my inner talent and capabilities. It has given me the immense opportunity to
develop my understanding and develop myself for the superior position. For the same, I thanked
my supervisor to provide such an opportunity to me and develop my position with the time.

In streamline to my experiences, once when I was a member of Tribunal which was
regarding the decision to be taken for the fate of an Estate Constable. At that time, I have
identified various situations to that place. I had evidenced a person in front of me who was very
nervous. This nervousness was clearly evident by his swinging legs and consistent swallowing.
All my respective team members at tribunal asked me to begin with my line of questioning. I had
started the same with my style of leadership and I said him that:
Officer (Name), I would like to give you the opportunity in order to explain yourself
which will seek to justify your alleged innocence. His convincing explanation was opposite to
our possession and reports. He said that the tribunal’s recommendation was termination of
service. At that time also, I was quite confident and assured about my responsibility. This was an
unforgettable moment for me that proved contributory in changing my life as well.
