Presentation
AI Summary
This presentation focuses on an exercise intervention designed to prevent falls among elderly individuals in aged care settings. It is targeted towards Assistant in Nursing (AIN) professionals and aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills to implement effective strategies. The learning resource utilizes a multi-faceted approach, incorporating theoretical learning, practical training, and demonstration. The first phase involves theoretical learning to enhance nurses' understanding of fall-related risks and the benefits of resistance and balance exercises. The second phase emphasizes practical training and demonstration to facilitate the application of learned strategies in real-world scenarios. The third phase involves evaluations based on examinations and feedback. The presentation identifies the learning needs of the intended audience and outlines the intended outcomes, framed as SMART goals. The resource aims to address these outcomes by providing education, training, and practical application opportunities for AINs to improve patient safety and reduce the incidence of falls.

Learning Needs: Concerning the
emerging incidence of falls and the
resulting harmful health
complications (Johansson et al.
2017), there is hence a need for
advanced as well as assistant nurses
novel exercise intervention
strategies aiming to reduce the
occurrences of falls as well the
negative health implications
pertaining to the same (Palvanen et
al. 2014).
As opined by Chang and Chang

Outcomes (SMART
Goals) To be able to learn and further impart
specific resistance and balance training
exercise strategies to patients in elderly
care, as well as during assistance of
registered nurses in the fulfilment of the
same, as per the learning resource time
frame of 3 weeks.
To incorporate awareness regarding the
need for preventing falls and falls based
injury amongst elderly citizens, as
measured by increased mortality and
injury rates pertaining to the same.
To be able to adequately assist Registered
Nurses in teaching required exercise
strategies to the elderly to prevent
incidence of falls, during the time of
patient care and safety.
To be able to impart education to aged

Addressing
outcomes
The concerned learning tool will address the previously
mentioned learning outcomes, with the help of:
First Phase of learning, which will incorporate theoretical
learning principles, resulting in enhancement of nursing
knowledge concerning the harmful implications of falls, the
need for implementation of resistance and balance training
exercises and hence, improvement of awareness of falls
prevention strategies.
Second Phase of learning, which will encourage nurses to
learn the required strategies through practical training and
demonstration approach, resulting in the implementation of
their training knowledge in controlled as well as live patient
setups. Hence, there will be enhanced knowledge concerning
further assisting aged patients as well as registered nurses.
Third Phase of learning, which evaluates the student
performance based on examinations and feedback
