Introduction
Semi-structured interview is considered to be method for the research which is used
often in the study of social science (Kumar 2019). It could be said that structured interviews
have a different structure from that of semi structured interviews. In structured interviews, it
has a set of rigorous questions which allows one to divert from one another. However, a semi
structured interview is open in nature, which would be allowing to bring new ideas at the
time of interview as a result for what the interviewee had to say as a response. Although, the
interviewer in semi structured interview would generally have a framework of themes which
would be explored. Henceforth, topics that are specifically to be discussed by the interviewer,
would be explored at the time of interview. These topics should be thought carefully before
the interview (Silverman 2016). Thus, it would generally beneficial for the interviewer for
preparing a guide before conducting the interview, so that informal grouping of questions
should be asked while conducting the interview.
The guide made by the researcher would be helping in focusing an interview in the
specific topic that is to be discussed while conducting the research, and constraining them to
a particular format (Flick 2015). This would allow a freedom to the researcher for tailoring
the question to the context of the interview and to the people that is being interviewed. The
interview is considered in a meeting where the interviewer would not be strictly following the
formalizing list of questions. There would be many open end questions related to the research
topic. Semi structured interview would be helping the researcher in analyzing the experience
of visitors at a particular music festival or event. Therefore, with all the open end questions, it
would be easy for finding the experience of visitors at the music event

Method
The collection of data is mostly divided into two parts mainly, primary and secondary.
Primary data collection method is divided into two part, namely qualitative data collection
method and quantitative data collection method (Ledford and Gast 2018). Quantitative data
collection is done based on conducting a survey of people, whereas qualitative data collection
method is done based on interviews. A researcher could conduct structured interviews or
semi structured interviews. A semi structured interview is basically done by a researcher for
collecting the necessary data for the research, maintaining the quality of data. In a semi
structured interviews, the researcher would be getting raw data from the people that are being
interviewed which would be helping in completing the research (Fletcher 2017). Semi
structured interviews are widely used in primary qualitative data collection as it helps in
collecting data in fields like household research, public experiments and social science. In
this kind of interview, some common question related to the research topic is quite common.
In a semi-structured interview, it involves both production of rich data which also includes
observational data. The semi structured interview could help the researcher in rehashing the
expression which is already expressed by the interviewee, while coordinating the
encouragement in a more prominent and correct justification. While conducting the
interview, the interviewer listens closely to the responses of the interviewee, and not seeming
by accounts. Therefore, in a semi structured interview, it involves the improvisation of the
interviewer mostly through the entire meeting (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). This is
done in order to secure the data which would be gathered form the questions answered by the
interviewee. In times, a semi structured interview could be precise for the recommended
strategy of the research. However, on the grounds which states that the member or the
interviewee would be getting the sentiment of the interview, appearing at the discussion due
to the adaptability and recollection of the data for the research topic. Therefore, in a semi

structured interview, the interviewee arranges questions which were revised completely by
the interviewer before commencing the interview. In the research for collecting experience of
the visitors in a music festival, the researcher would be forming some open end questions
which will eventually asked to some of the visitors at the music event. Therefore, the
researcher would be collecting raw data from the visitors which would eventually help the
researcher in formulating the analysis of the research topic, which is monitoring the
experience of visitors after attaining a music event.
Analysis
In semi structure interview, the researcher would not get to interview the participant
more than time. At times of conducting the interviews, many participants are interviewed at
an instance (Palinkas et al. 2015). In semi structure interview, the interviewer does not
conduct the interview with one at a time for instance. Thus, the interviewer does not get more
than one try to note down the raw data and sending all the interviewed data to analyze the
collected data. With the help of semi structure interview, it would be easy for the researcher
to analyze experience, views opinions and beliefs of participants on a specific matter or topic.
With the application of semi structured interviews, the researcher would be able to account
each of the collected opinions and experiences of the participants of the interview and help in
comparing one response of a participant to another. It would also help the researcher in
developing a brief understanding of all the underlying structure of participant’s belief. The
interview is often said to be preceded with informal and unstructured interviews along with
observations. Thus, it would be helpful for the researcher for analyzing the data as
participants would be sharing their answers to the informal questions that are asked by the
interviewer. This kind of structure would help the researcher in developing a keen
understanding for the research topic. It would also be gathering relevant questions related to
the topic of the research (Almalki 2016). It would be beneficial for the researcher as the

question related to the interview could be prepared ahead of time of the actual interview. As
the researcher would be preparing the questions before the participants would be attaining the
music event, it would help the researcher in formulating the questions.
The process of breaking the information would directly be done form learning the
literature of the research topic. This would be done by setting on individual personalities
which would be pre-extended. The kind of information which would be analyzed is basically
the responses made by the participants of the semi structured interview. It would be unwise
for the interviewer for making some theme related to the research topic (Flick 2017). As the
interview would be done based on the presence of research topic, it would be much easy for
the researcher to formulate the question based on the topic of the research and easy for
analyzing the recorded data from the participants.
With the help of semi structured interviews, it would be more helpful for the
researcher understanding the topic of the research. As the interview would be aiming to
understand the experience of the visitors, it would be helpful in understanding the perspective
of people who are visiting the music event. The main agenda of the research would be
analyzing the experience of people, and semi structure interview would be helping the
researcher in understanding the perspective of people and their emotions while attaining any
music event (Heath et al. 2018). From the collection of raw data by conducting the interview,
it would be more helpful for the researcher in getting all the necessary insights about the
people that are attaining the music event. The research would of great quality due to the
primary data collection method. Therefore, it would be beneficial for the researcher in using
semi structured interviews for completing the research.

Reflective evaluation
While assembling the interview, there have been few problem faced for completing
the interview. This problems where not undertaken for the technique of the study. There have
been many instance where I had to meet with the people whim in intend to interview for the
cause of completing the research. The redirection of the topic have been done due to the
formulation of the research questions just for forming some new questions. In essence for
transforming the interview into a more intense process for quick help to change, thus,
progressing the process more easily in order to look at the lower back of the grounds.
Therefore, the interview was helpful in turning the research into a more secure form. It was
helpful for completing the research so that it could have been dictated by taking all the
necessary points in account. While conducting the interview, some problems were faced by
me. It have been hard for formulating the necessary question related to the research topic. As
understanding the point of view of people was needed in order to formulate the question that
is needed to be used in the semi structured interview.
