Expository Paper on Reading and Writing Development in Education

Expository paper on the learning from the module
The expository learning for this particular module can be summed up with an old saying that
states “Writing makes men exact.” The same power of the writing can be applied during the
early years of education by introducing it as a tool creative expression. The best way to
corroborate the above-mentioned statement can be drawn from the video published by “Reading
Rockets.” This video presents a visual account of the students who are reading various stories
and later on commenting upon them (Connecting Reading and Writing , 2014). This video under
the title of “Connecting Reading & Writing.” Denotes three scenarios, Christine Paul, a teacher
for the third grade, emphasizes that exposure to the nuances of the writing, like exclamation
signs or phonetics, can help a kid in increasing their attention span. The rest of the two speakers
take this attention span to the next level where the kids start thinking about changing the facts
and outputs of the story. The summation of this video says that the connection between writing
and reading gives rise to creativity among a student and allows him to explore the world from a
subjective point of view where he can identify few elements that can be changed (Connecting
Reading and Writing , 2014).
A position statement offered by the International reading association further introduces us to the
finer nuances of writing and their impact on the learning and most importantly on the decision
making faculty. While delivering the “Developmentally appropriate practices for the young
children, this paper clearly indicates that writing allows a kid to go for an accurate assessment of
the text that he or she is reading, the introduction to the nuances of the writing can further help a

DEVELOPMENT). The findings of both these pieces of literature can connect on the platform
where they establish writing as the tool for effective decision making (Learning to Read and

A paper published by “Children’s literacy initiative” describes certain common barriers in the
writing process at various levels. fundamentals like inability to identify the spellings, an
inability to identify phonetic sounds presented in a text, inability to identify the shapes and sizes
of the letters and inattention due to the innate behavioral problems are few areas that can serve as
a barrier for the young students working in the direction of developing a connection between
writing and reading with an intention to learn better (Selznick, 2013).
The learning outcomes of the joint study and analysis of the four sources can be jotted down as
under.
 The connection between reading and writing leads to an “accurate assessment” of the text
for a young student.
 The same connection enables a strong decision-making faculty among the young
students.
 Few extraordinary students can feel the spark of creativity and show the flashes of a
genius as an outcome of the confluence of reading and writing.
 Current education policies and methods are insufficient to explore the joint potential of
reading and writing for young students.
 The connection between reading and writing adds memorability in the text and allows it
to leave a long-lasting impact on the young student.
