Nowadays extremism is generally regarded as an obnoxious aspect of human beliefs.
Usually having a dogmatic approach to politics or religion, extremists and extremism, in general,
has become a significant concern for Nations all over the world. Extremism is defined as the
tendency or action of holding an extreme mindset. At times most of us tend to adopt these
characteristics. However, it is when all of these are incorporated together, extremism takes a
treacherous stand.
Undisputed conviction regarding one’s stance is a significant characteristic of the
extremists. Extremists believe that their beliefs are accurate in every sense and they would go to
any extreme to prove it. Extremists often even try to impose these beliefs on others. Typically
extremism comes from insecurity of personal identity (Baisagatova et al., 2016). Extremists go to
the extreme of killing those people who do not believe or oppose to their ideologies. They are
often known for their drastic depreciation as well. There is no scope of compassion in the mind
of an extremist.
Al Qaeda, ISIS and Al Shabaab are the names of a few internationally known viscous
extremist organizations, also referred to as terrorist organizations ("What are Known Violent
Extremist Groups?", 2018). Apart from these, various domestic extremists exist, viz.
environment extremists, Anarchist extremists or Supremacy extremists. The ideologies of the
violent extremist groups are in similitude regarding the west. However, Al Qaeda primarily
rivals against the USA whereas ISIS rival against President Bashar al-Assad led Syria.
Extremism is one of the social shades of malice face by nations, causing savagery,
disdain, psychological warfare and incredible helplessness to the public in general. People
likewise need to collaborate with the government for the destruction of radicalism.
