Social media laws and regulations refers to activities and function which are developed
by the government for providing protection to the stakeholders and users and reducing the issues
related to copyright and trademark misconduct, social media marketing and labour relations etc.
These laws are important because they help in providing protection to the users from unethical
and unexpected activities (Cavusgil and Knight, 2015). They help in the proper running of the
organisation and provide security to them from their competitors. In this task will be explained
about effect of new general data protection regulation on Facebook.
MAIN BODY
Impact of new general data protection regulation on Facebook
GDPR is a act which is developed European Parliament and Council in 2016 to provide
protection to EU citizen's personal data and information which they are sharing on social media
like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter etc. This act positively affect Facebook because it provide
protection to the information which will be shared by the users like individual companies and
others. For example, now these days Facebook is using as a promotional tool so various
organisations share their peroneal information and organisational detail on it for its customers.
With the help of this law, now they can secure and protect the personal data form hacking or
leakage. It is also creating favourable impact on individual also by providing security to their
personal information like their contact details an others.
This laws also provide protection to Twitter. For example, In present time most of the
companies use Twitter fro promoting its products and services so Twitter complies that
advertisers, partners, suppliers and other stakeholder are facing protection issues so it developed
GDPR which play an important role as a security master. For example, it provide protection
when the individual and a company upload a tailored audience to Twitter then it work as data
processor and provide data in such quantity which is requited for them. It create positive impact
and work as a controller of data which is receives by the Twitter pixel and by mobile app
conversation trafficking partners (Hamilton and Webster, 2018). This law basically focus on
product, policy and transparency. For instant, if Amazon use Twitter as a promotional tool then it
provide security to the products, policies of the company so that they can not be affected by
others.

According to these act social media like Facebook working as:
It ask or taking permission to users that they want Facebook to use data from partners like
other websites to show them ads (Nohria, 2017).
Ask to users for continue transferring data like political and religious views etc.
Commencement to allow facial recognition technology to its users fro providing
protection.
Take permission to users to agree to Facebook's updated terms of services and data
policy.
CONCLUSION
From the above data it can be concluded that Facebook and Twitter are developed
various laws and polices for providing protection to their stakeholders like individuals and
organisation etc. They provide protection to them in various ways by securing their personal
information like contact details, photos, videos etc.
