Impact of Facebook on Teenager
In current era it is estimated that teenagers sacrifice their sleeping and study because of
spending more time on using social networks (Botou & Marsellos, 2018). Therefore, Facebook
results in affecting the health, increase biasness, cyber bullying and due to various other factors it
affects in negative manner. In this essay discussion is made on the favor of the subject matter
that Facebook affects teenagers negatively.
Facebook affects the health of the teenagers because of wasting most of the time on
remaining active on Facebook, through this youth does not focuses on performing physical
activities and also sacrifice their sleep (Greenwood, Sorenson, & Warner, 2016). This an also
affect mental health of the teenagers, increase depression, anxiety because of getting negative
comments and through reading the post regarding the discrimination, biases etc (Holland &
Tiggemann, 2016).
The teenager’s state of mind moved to different level which also reduces their
relationship with their parents, friends and other family members (Matamoros-Fernández, 2017).
There are also some features of Facebook such as like reaction also increase anxiety among
youth. The authors also revealed that sometimes through Facebook youth also become
victimized for trolling and can raise cyber bullying by continuously providing negative
comments to the teenagers (Pera, 2018). This also forced the teenagers to think in-depth and can
increase depression.
From the above, it is estimated that there are various negative aspects through which
teenagers are affected by Facebook. The majority of the authors believe that it impact mental
health of the youth because of getting trolled and getting negative post and comment.
Furthermore, Facebook is also become one of the reason to raise discrimination and reduce
relationship.
